I'll have to prove myself".

This is my first story and I've decided to make it a journeyman career. I'm a 25 year old unemployed former Sunday League Footballer.

The leagues I have selected are:

Australia (all)
Croatia (all)
England (all)
France (ligue 2 and above)
Germany (all)
Holland (all)
Italy (serie b and above)
Northern Ireland (all)
Portugal (liga vitalis and above)
Russia (all)
Scotland (all)
Spain (liga adelante and above)

Database size is large.

The story starts on May 31, 2009 in Croatia.

EDIT: Please feel free to enlighten me on how to make the story more enjoyable for you.

It's the middle of March 2010 and I finally get offered my first job. It's a deal until June 2012 worth £350 per week at Maidenhead United FC.

Currently bottom of the Blue Square South just 5 points away from safety zone with 7 games remaining. A relatively easy run home apart from the away game to the top team.

The semi-professional club was founded in 1870 and moved to their current ground, York Road, the following year. The FA have acknowledged that this is the oldest continuously used senior football ground in the world, but despite this the Magpies have never won a trophy. They retain a fierce rivalry with Marlow, Wycombe Wanderers and Windsor & Eton and other rivals include Slough Town, Hampton & Richmond and Basingstoke.

Initial look at the team suggests I have one supremely talented £12K valued young striker who I need to help find his game and one other decent striker who's on great form and in high spirits. Taking this into consideration I will be more than likely be playing with 2 up front in favour of my preferred 4-2-3-1 formation. Sadly I have zero youth prospects in my fairly ambitious squad. I will need to look to the transfer market with very limited funds.

I eagerly look forward to my first press conference. This is my first opportunity to raise squad morale. The board are very happy with my plans for easing the financial strain on the club and the fans are excited that I've set my sights on avoiding relegation.

I'll be honest with you, I don't think I can justify the luxury of an *** man in this much debt and two coaches seems a little extreme especially when one of them is a player/coach on £230 per week.

I'm going to have to bite the bullet and release some players right away. I wonder how the fans will react. Four first team players and two reserve players are released on frees with no compensation payed out.

The press conference didn't go as well as planned, somehow playing successful, attractive football meant attack would be preferred to defence (typical media) and consequently some defenders weren't too happy about that.

I've organised some basic training regimes and for some disheartened players to tutor people who, realistically, don't have a future at the club in the hope of raising some morale, I then take a huge risk by playing six first squad players, including all defenders unhappy about my comments, in the reserve fixture in the hope of raising their morale with a win, thankfully it paid off with a 1-0 scoreline.

I give the lads two days off training to recoup for the game against 12th placed Welling United and approach the board about the possibility of a parent club, which should help financially and also in securing loans for the following seasons.

Good read, keep it up :) I will subscribe

The bottom half of my story got eaten :(

A round up of the 2009/10 season

We avoided (theoretical) relegation on the last day of the league.

These are the results that got us there, the last seven are mine.

We're even poorer now. This is after a £35,000 cash injection from the board.

A list of transfers in and out. All outs are mine, all ins after Sam Lovatt are mine and they're all on £5 a week.

Next season, there will be monthly updates and awards and will be far better structured. This was a sad season as I had to let so many players go due to being poor.

For avoiding relegation and doing my best to improve the financial situation, the director and chairwoman are thankful. They bought me a tie. I look forward to working under them over the next few seasons.
