Hello all

I hate to ask for help (partly because of the huge ego and partly because it kills the fun) but I'm getting hugely frustrated with my striker's inability to finish in one on one situation. All three of are generally good strikers (one of them, Wellbeck, even more than that) but they just can't finish when facing the keeper alone. It wouldn't even be so frustrating if keepers kept making good saves but my strikers keep shooting directly into the keeper and I mean, they'll do it 19 out of 20 times. One of them has been trained to go 'round the keeper and the other to place his shots but it makes no difference. Any suggestions?

Ta.

I have this problem and have started to think that the stat "decisions" plays a bigger part in it than I thought?

For instance, I have Torres who misses many one on one's which is really frustrating. However his decisions stat is only 13.

One player who has scored more than Torres this year on my game (third year), is Diamanti at West Ham who has poorer finishing and composure (16 and 16 not 17 and 17) but a better decision making stat (15 not 13).

On my game in the 3rd season, Welbeck has 12 for decisions.

From now on I will be looking closer at the decision stat when buying a striker.

Great overview Redders.

I just use the 'Prefferred Moves' section in the players profile. Interact with your player, ask him to either run around the goalkeeper (If your striker has good Pace and Finishing and Dribbling).

Or you can use various approaches. Someone like Robinho or Forlan should be asked to chip the keeper, a high finishing and techinique will give you great goals this way.

Other strikers such as Obafemi Martins and Oscar Cardozo should be asked to hit the ball with power. This will beat the keeper completely due to the great long shots and finishing stats.

Just get to know your strikers, adjust tactics and tell them what you want them to do! :)

This is a bug,Miles Jaobson touched on it in the last FM podcast,he says it will be sorted for the 10.3 patch.

That explains it, I just hope they don't make it too easy to score one on ones as things could get ridiculous - I miss 5+ a game and still win 3-0.

I think they are more likely to go down the route of giving teams a lot less one on one situations, thats the way he came accross to me anyway. So an increase in goals is unlikely.
