Opening editor problems

When i try opening the editor it says it is aIready running (i have checked it isn't) then it says it can't find some essential data and that i should make sure the game is installed properly (the rest of the game works perfectly)
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Try reinstalling the game.

it still doesn't work now it just says that it is already running (once again it isn't) then the screen goes black then it just goes back to normal like nothing has happened and the editor hasn't loaded

so anoying on threads like these its just a load of people saying same
until finally someone who knows how to fix it stumbles across it

I will search on the internet and if I find a solution I will post it here

I fixed mine by going on steam
right clicking football manager 2011
going on properties
local files
verify integrity of game cache
when thats finished defragment cache files

Then loaded it through
Computer/Local Disk (C/Program Files/Steam/SteamApps/common/football manager 2011/tools/editor
then clicked on editor
(same as usual but i coppied a shortcut onto desktop before and that doesnt work)

My computer crashed a bit and it opened the editor but then closed it again so I restarted computer then it worked
But I think the shortcut still doesnt work

Hoped that works if it doesnt sorry
