Do you assign them all? i get soo paranoid that i ask the team to tight mark, show onto weaker foot and tackle hard on even the GK. lol...what do you normally assign to and any tips on how to use them effectively?

I use OI all the time. They work very well for me, and u can actually see it on the 3D pitch.

GK - closing down always
DR/DL/WBR/WBL - closing down always, tight marking always, show onto weaker foot
DCs - closing down always
DMC/MC - closing down always, tight marking always
ML/MR/AML/AMR - same as DR/DL/WBR/WBL
AMC - closing down always, tight marking always, show onto weaker foot
FC with good skills - tight marking always, show onto weaker foot
FC with high heading attributes - tight marking, tackling hard
----------------

Give it a try and lemme know whatcha think :)

A lot of the OI are basically the same as team and player instructions. It allows you to make exceptions from how you normally want to play for specific opposition players.

So rather than going in Hard all over the pitch, you can target the nancy boy winger who jumps away from a 50/50 ball if there's a challenge going in.

Closing down is perhaps the most dangerous to use. It tells the nearest player/s who are within pressing range to move close to the player targeted. This can be suicidal in the middle of the pitch for players in the AMC positions as your central defenders will be the ones to do it unless your central midfield is sticking close to the player. However, if you play with a narrow defence (or narrower than the width of the opposition), using it on wingers and fullbacks will ensure that your fullbacks and wingers (and central midfielders) will cover the wide areas properly.

Tight marking is the same as the team/player instruction. It basically means your player will stay close to their 'man' rather than standing off a little bit and forcing them to either play the ball past them or make a pass. As with the team/player instruction, whether you think it is a good idea or not for your player to try and stay close to his man is your judgement call. Simple example - your central defender is tightly marking the opposition striker and follows him on a run wide into the channels, the striker then puts the ball into the hole which your central defender should be covering in the middle of the pitch for an incoming central midfielder to run onto and score.

Weaker foot is an interesting one. It changes how your players move in to tackle - so it effectively allows you to funnel play in certain directions. Likewise forcing a right-footed player onto his right foot on the wing might be a better idea than forcing him onto his left if he can't cross and the strikers are useless in the air.

There are no right and wrong answers. Use them as appropriate within your system. Your AM will offer occasional advice which is usually profitable to follow.

totally agree Zebedee closing down use to a minimal i have exprienced my team close in on a player and open up the game for the other team i had conceded a few goals due to this. As for hard tackles never set it on the strikers or ATTMID lernt the hard way in giving penalties. I would only hard tackle and close down the defence of the opponent

Opp Ins are good for being specific when playing harder opponents or prominent players.
