Wembley Community Shield : Chelsea vs Man City
Today is the day for Alan Pardew, his first match for Chelsea against Premier League Champions, Manchester City under Roberto Mancini. A sell-out crowd of 90,000 fans is expected in this enthralling match. So let's get underway with the team news.
Chelsea are without long term injury victim Micheal Essien, who looks to comeback at 2012 at the earliest. Tomas Kalas (Peterborough), Daniel Sturridge (Newcastle) and Josh McEachran (Watford) have been loaned, with Alan Pardew indicating that there will be no more loans or outgoing players. So without much further ado, the Chelsea line-up is :
Cech; Ivanovic, Luiz, Terry, Cole; Mikel, Essien; Hazard, Mata, Hulk; Tevez.
No place for Fernando Torres today, along with Marko Marin, Ramires and Lampard and even the in-form Malouda, as Chelsea have high profile bench today.
Manchester City have had a problem as their poor scheduling in preseason has left the club in a position that their starts aren't fit for this match. All of David Silva, James Milner, Mario Balotelli, Vincent Kompany and Sergio Kun Aguero are not expected to start. However, they still have enough quality for a good game, the Man City line-up is :
Hart; Richards, Boyata, Lescott, Clichy; L.Diarra, Zabaleta; Ganso, Yaya Toure, Nasri; Dzeko.
SO, LET THE COMMUNITY SHIELD BEGIN!
So, we present a commentatory report on the match.
1-10 Minute : Looks a good match for now. Chelsea really looking good despite a front-four playing together for the first time. Hulk has been in particular terrorizing Clichy, while Chelsea have been narrow to restrict Manchester City. Goal-less so far.
11-20 Minute : GOALLL!!! CHELSEA 1-0. Hulk had been brilliant thus far, making good runs and one profited after Cole on the overlap had time to swing in a cross and delivered a perfect cross as Hulk beat the offside trap and put a simple finish. A goal on his debut for Hulk. 1-0 Chelsea.
21-30 Minute : GOALLL!!! CHELSEA 2-0. It's Deja Vu. Cole again found time and found Hulk beating the offside trap. He takes a touch and bullets it past Hart for his second on debut. The same combination does it again, Chelsea rampant at Wembley.
31-45 Minute : Manchester City seem to have been recovering from the shock of going 2-0 down. Luiz has headed a Hazard corner off the post, while Manchester City put up a good move with Dzeko having a awful finish at the end. Half time, a even game thus far but Chelsea have been more potent and have gone 2-0 up.
46-90 Minute : It hasn't been the lively second half it looked like. Fernando Torres, Florent Malouda, Marko Marin, Frank Lampard and Ramires all have gotten minutes on the pitch but both teams didn't look like scoring more. Fernando Torres didn't really get much going as he had poor shots, but was good otherwise. Marko Marin looked magnificent cutting in like Hulk, and Chelsea look good for a title challenge this year. We cannot judge Manchester City as their squad wasn't full strength, but their second-string more than held their own. So it has finished in Wembley, CHELSEA 2-0 MANCHESTER CITY!
