I have started a new game with manchester united on patch 11.3 and when playing games if one of our players shoots or the opposite team and the ball is going in and it takes the slightest of deflections off the opposite team and goes in it is always given as an own goal.

Ive never had this problem with previous patches. So im not too sure if its cos of the patch update or not.

Is anyone else having the same problem?

The guys at si cant make the game perfect but they try there best, maybe it is cos they are own goals or lots of people said about this and they did it

Not had that problem personally, that same instance has happened but it was given as a goal to the kicker and not the deflector. I guess it could be a glitch, or perhaps just unlucky.

I know they cant make it perfect but its abit stupid.

Anyway thanks for your replies.

I had a mean deflection go in last night, and it was the striker who got awarded with the goal, not the defender who it deflected off. It's probably just an unfortunate coincidence in your case. But hey, if you're winning, why complain? ;)

i have this issue to its not as good if you score and you are determined he will come good it looks like he has finally scored and BANG! own goal

It's annoying isn't it. Your £15M striker hasn't scored since joining, hits a great strike but it ends up as an own goal when there is barely any touch. Still, at least you're winning. :)

Yes very annoying especially when the player who strikes it cost 35M which was Gareth Bale.

I get cheaply credited own goals all the time, really annoys me.

I have noticed that. In a four game spell i had scored 4 own goals and had 1 in my favour.

I think the deflections count as own goals if the shot wasn't directed into goal but only goes there due to the defender. If the ball is headed for goal and is deflected and in, it still counts as a goal for the attacker. That's how it works IRL, and from my experience in game too.

All "shots" that take deflections off 1 player are counted as goals.

All "crosses" or "passes" that take deflections off 1 player are counted as an own goal.

Sometimes the distinction between shot and cross can be confusing, but the game does keep track of stats and typifies them one way or another.

I used to think the same way as the OP until I really started looking at the own goals.

own goals are decided on whether the shot is on target or not...

Just going by what I've seen.

Never checked own goals if they were on target or not.

Which begs the question, is the OP's players missing most of their shots? If they are slight deflections then they were probably on target to begin with.

If they're on target shots and deflect away from the goalkeeper, it should be the shooters goal, but if they're off target then it's classed as an own goal.
so have a look at the shot and see whether it's justified or not.

I always watch the goals and the shots that lead to OG's were all on target and going in.

Thanks for all your replys tho!
