Where It Started

It was a crisp sunday evening in the heart of Paris, I was sipping casually on a glass of red-wine, watching Thierry Henry cheat the Irish. "This man is my god." I remember thinking in my head, the phone began to ring and reluctantly, I answered it. A foreign sounding accent greeted me, I dropped my glass of wine on the floor as it smashed into hundreds of peices. My wife Elaine came rushing in and my son Pierre, I put the phone down. They came in firing questions left right and centre. I took Elaines hand, ruffling Pierre hair and sat them down.

"I got the job.." I said, grinning from ear to ear. They both grinned also, thinking I was winding them up, I turned the volume back up and switched the television to sky sports news and there it was. We all hugged each other and I kissed Elaine on the forehead.

SkySports News

"Unknown French Manager, Pascal Benoit has been appointed New Manager of Ukrainian team Dnipro. In the last few minutes, the deal was confirmed and Mr. Benoit will now be managing the side in the Ukraine league."

Media Predicted Finish: 4th
I have to say, this is very realistic and is what I will be hoping for. I will be hoping for conteninetal success through finishing a high place in the league. With such a strong team, I think we can do well.

Transfer and Wage Budget: £3,000,000 & £220,000
Generous from the board for the expectations, and I hope I can spend this money wisely and get the correct players in to find success here in Ukraine.

End Of Season Review

League Position; 5th (Below Target :()
Ukrainian Cup: Winner (2-1 Vs. Metalist)

It has been a tough but successful first month in management for me. I have had many ups and downs but I've enjoyed every minute of it. The best moment in the season has to be the final whistle blowing and seeing my players, young and old alike, rushing onto the pitch knowing they'd won the Ukrainian Cup. I was very happy, and this is what dreams are made of. Next season, I haven't quite decided my plans but Pierre, my son has been moved into the Under 18's of Dnipro and he is a quick striker. Maybe in a few seasons he will be able to break into the first team and play upfront alongside Seleznyov and be in the same team as Nazarenko and Ferreyra.

Next season, we have Diego Suarez joining on a permanent deal. My scout thought he is definately one for the future, so I snapped him up. Also, I have managed to sign Kevin Phillips, James Collins, and Jonas Sakuwaha on free contracts and they will join as soon as they're contract finishes and these are three good signings.

Players Of The Season:

Osmar Ferreyra (5 Goals)
Sergiy Nazarenko (9 Goals)
Eugene Seleznyov (9 Goals)
Alcides (6 Goals)

Pre-Season Summary

Transfers In:

David N'Gog - Liverpool - Loan
*Terrific signing, an absolute goal machine and hopefully his goals can boost us to european and domestic glory this year.
Thiago - Barcalona - £975,000
*A young demon, for less than a million, this future star will surely prove to be an amazing signing for Mr. Benoit as he pushes to make his team the best in Ukraine.
Victor Anichebe - Everton - £1,900,000
*Former Everton striker, a powerhouse and another natural goalscorer and he and N'Gog will partner the veteran Seleznyov up front and hopefully start banging the goals in.
Diego Suarez - Dinamo Kiev - £2,500,000
*Got the kid on loan last year and he was unstoppable, hopefully he can make the move permenantly and do the exact same thing.
Kevin Phillips - Birmingham - Free
*Back-up to our already strong strikeforce.
James Collins - Aston Villa - Free
*One for the future, keep you're eye on this lad.
Jonas Sakuwaha - FC Loriet - Free
*Decent player.
Loris Arnaud - Paris Saint Germain - £525,000
*A young attacking flare for our young attacking team and at a bargain price for the young french lad.
Alan Sheenan - Leeds United - £275,000
*Another one for the future from Leeds Utd. A left back to cover that side, as we're not doing amazing in that department.
Grégory Béránger - Espanyol - £1,600,000
*Fantastic signing, another left back.
Laurent Robert - Free
Tamas Stepanenko - Metalurg ZP - £2,500,000
*A great signing who will just hold the centre of the midfield and I can rotate it with him and Lysytskyi with the European Games coming up.

Transfers Out:

James Collins - Kryvbas - Loan
Vitany Delisov

*The rest are minor*
Ukraine Premier League

Dnipro 1 - 2 Obolon
David N'Gog
Thoughts: Obviously I'm diappointed with the game, we never really got going but N'Gog got off to a scoring streak in the UPL.. About the only positive to take from such a poor performance.

Dnipro 5 - 0 Metalurg D
David N'Gog (4)
Eugene Seleznyov
Thoughts: An emphatic victory to match and emphatic performance, David N'Gog hitting the back of the net four times tonight as Seleznyov, the world class centre forward netted to make it five against Metalurg, who just weren't at the races.

Dnipro 1 - 3 Shakhtar

Eugene Seleznyov
Thoughts: We should have done better here against Shakhtar, we did well against them last season and only three games in, we had two losses to our name. Seleznyov again hit the back of the net but the result didn't reflect HIS personal performance.

Dnipro 4 - 0 Arsenal Kiev

David N'Gog (2),
Arnaud
OG.
Thoughts: We just walked all over them really, David N'Gog again bagging a brace and new signing Arnaud scored for the first time in Dnipro colours. A good gmae and unstoppable 4 - 0 victory.

Dnipro 3 - 0 Tavria
David N'Gog
Thiago
Eugene Seleznyov
Thoughts: Comfortable three to nothing victory, the two key strikers grabbing goals here and young flare, Thiago scored an amazing curling free-kick.

Dnipro 3 - 1 Chornomorets
Eugene Cheberyachko
Eugene Seleznyov
David N'Gog

Thoughts: Central defender Cheberyachko scored an early contender for goal of the season as he screamed one in from 30 yards to give us the lead against Chornomorets, as David N'Gog and Seleznyov finished the job off for us.

Ukrainian League Cup; 2nd Round

Dnipro 5 - 0 Mykolaiv
David N'Gog (5)
Thoughts: Routine victory, all I have to say about that, oh.. and N'Gog? Pure class.

Euro Champions Cup: 3rd Round

Leg One
Dnipro 2 - 1 Lech Poznan
Thiago
Eugene Seleznyov

Leg Two
Dnipro 7 - 1 Lech Poznan
Eugene Seleznyov (3)
Diego Suarez (2)
David N'Gog (2)

Thoughts: Overall, very happy on the tie as we sailed through scoring nine goals against Lech Poznan the polish side and letting in two.

Star Players:

David N'Gog*
Thiago*
Tamas Stepanenko*

Thanks Swagga, I will update at the end of next month. :) Also, I reccommend N'Gog to anyone. He's absolutely clinical.

This is interesting - N'Gog is amazing by the looks of it, but I refuse to sign a Liverpool player ;)

Ukraine Premier League

Dnipro 1 - 2 Melurg ZP
Diego Suarez
Thoughts: I think this was a poor match and they knicked it in the last minute but with Alcides I think it would have been a different story. We drafted in a wonderer from the U21's and he set up they're first and second literally passing it too them. Diego Suarez conjuered up a bit of magic as he scored us to make it level, but it wasn't to be.

Dnipro 2 - 0 Desna
Marlon Harewood
Own Goal
Thoughts: Fairly happy with this game, just a routine victory, Marlon Harewood hitting the back of the net for the first time this season and then getting injured. That was a bit annoying but overall a good performance from the lads.

EURO Cup: Group Stage

Dnipro 1 - 1 Az Alkmaar
Eugene Seleznyov
Thoughts: Very happy with this match, I think we proved we can contest in Europe and with our full team, I think maybe we could have beat them but a good start to the group stage.

Dnipro 6 - 0 Haka
Vorobey (3)
Victor Anichebe
Eugene Seleznyov
Cheberyachko
Thoughts: A complete demolition of Haka here, Vorobey scored a hat-trick with Anichebe getting on the score sheet and Thiago setting up Cheberyachko to round it off with a beautiful header. A good three points in the group stage, hopefully we can keep this up and advance.

Ukrainian Cup: Round 3

Dnipro 2 - 3 Dinamo Kiev
David N'Gog
Eugene Seleznyov
Thoughts: Bit annoyed seeing's as we clawed it back twice and then lost it within the last five minutes, but without our full team we cannot judge ourselves, so I'm not too fussed with this result, we are going for Europe anyway this year.

I love them dude! Make them downloadable :D Also, update on October in about thirty minutes.

October Summary

Dnipro News:
David N'Gog returns from Injury
Alcides returns from Injury
Dnipro qualify for Knockout Stages of Champions League!
Seleznyov continues banging them in, 25 in 22 games!

Ukrainian Premier League:
Dnipro 0 - 0 Lviv
Thoughts:
A poor game and the first game in about 10 we have failed to score in, but hopefully we can bounce back and put in a huge performance against Metalist.

Dnipro 3 - 2 Metalist
Eugene Seleznyov
Volodymyr Gomenyuk (2)
Thoughts: Fantastic result, really battled in this game, Seleznyov and Gomenyuk were outstanding!

Dnipro 4 - 1 Karpaty
Eugene Seleznyov (2)
Victor Anichebe
Loris Arnaud
Thoughts: A dominant win against a poor side, a good victory and Victor Anichebe hit the back of the net while our talisman Seleznyov managed to bag a brace to see us comfortably beat Karpaty.

Dnipro 4 - 1 Illichivets
Victor Anichebe
Eugene Seleznyov
Thiago
Vitaliy Lysytskyi
Thoughts:
Another comfortable victory, again hitting four but unfortunately we conceded, if we dry up the goals we're letting in, we'll be amazing.

Dnipro 5 - 0 Vorskla
Eugene Seleznyov (4)
Victor Anichebe
Thoughts: Seleznyov was on target today, FOUR TIMES! The Ukraine international is being watched by many a club but he is dedicated to the cause here at Dnipro. Anichebe continued his scoring form today hitting the back of the net again.

Euro Cup Group Stage

Dnipro 5 - 1 Basel
Eugene Seleznyov (4)

Volodymyr Gomenyuk

Thoughts: Thoroughly enjoyed this thrashing of Basel. If we continue in this form, I'm pretty sure we will be sailing through to the first knockout stage. Well played lads, Seleznyov, pure class.

Star Man: Eugene Seleznyov*
