Gengenpress
This has been copied and pasted from my original thread as the philosophy remains the same
The philosophy is possession based as well as utilising Jurgen Klopp's Gengenpress. As history has shown, most coaches have utilized high-pressure defending as a means to an end: regaining possession. This follows the standard dogma that more possession logically leads to more opportunities and thus, more goals. Klopp, however, saw the beauty in eliminating the middleman and instead opted to use counter-pressing as an actual part of the attack. Klopp commonly opts for a narrow 4-2-3-1 with width provided by marauding fullbacks. When defending, a high back line effectively crowds the midfield, allows for players to hunt in packs, and makes passing through the center an unsavory proposition for opponents. This is all done in an effort to win back the ball as high up the pitch as possible.
Gegenpressing means to pressure the opposition immediately after losing possession. So your team have attacked and lost the ball. The opposition now have possession of the ball and instead of leaving the ball and dropping off to become organised and compact behind the ball, energetic pressure is immediately applied around the ball as an organised and co - cohesive unit. The first priority of Gegenpressing is to try and win the ball back as quickly as possible and then counter the counter attack. The second priority is to force the opposition to make a hurried inaccurate or panicked pass, which your team can gain possession from or intercept or win and then counter attack.
I think John Barnes said it best in the words of timeless Rap. "You can defend or attack, theres only one way to beat them get round the back...."
You with me? Good let's see how this gets implemented.

Tactics
First things first. These Tactics are tweaks. Last year I used Knaps work as a foundation for my tactic The PavKnapper which I had huge success with. I also had great success with my own tactic at the start of FM 17 with http://www.fm-base.co.uk/forum/shar...hampionship-efl-cup-double-record-points.html Hpwever I think Knap is possibly the best tactician I have seen over the years and his foundation for team shape is what these tactics are built on and the credit needs to go to him and I hope people appreciate as much as me all the tactics he provides for all of us no matter what shape he nails it. These tactics I use a lot of what he does as a base implemented with some tactical tweaks, position and philosophy changes from myself. But the foundation is Knap's. I been getting some fantastic results in multiple saves in the last few months and been awaiting a chance to share with you guys so you can test them. Why i posted the tweaks in there own thread is that he makes so many tactics over the last few months I thought it would be good to see how you guys get on all in one place with the tweaks I have been using in the last 4 or 5 months. Also I like width and normal roles in my FM tactics so If you been looking for tactics which do not have IWB's or no Strikers and a more traditional shape. These could be for you. Good luck with these tactics lads and please let me know how you get on.

The most solid of the tactics in my opinion. You want that extra protection of the back 4 with the DM and by keeping your left footed winger on the right he should link up really well with the F9 and be dangerous on the attack creating a lot of chances as well as pressing with 5 players. Defensively solid and in this formation the pressing is really noticeable keeping you on the front foot.

Defensively very sound but this formation allows the use of an AMC. I have had the best results when having the AMR as a Left footer (Mahrez) etc and also having the left winger as a left footer as he gets on the outside more, by having a right footed Left winger things get congested so have a natural left footer on that side creating width.

Had fantastic results with this in the lower leagues especially my Hereford FC save where I am top half of the prem after 9 seasons, It is good for a goal if you are chasing games and when you want two up top as the strikers work very well together, A real underdog tactic and should work for the lower teams trying to get promoted. And is based on Leicester type shape which we saw do wonders for them last year.

When down to 10 players, lose the AMC from the 4231, and put the ST as a False 9. You should still be very creative and most importantly keep the ball.
