I'm currently in my second season with Sheffield United on FM Touch on iPad. Got promoted last year and was looking initially to just stay up in the Championship, however thanks to some solid tactics and the best defensive record in the league, we've found ourselves 7th as January starts. Therefore the board have backed us with an extra £4 million to simply now finish top half, which we've been in all year. I want to kick on while the wind is behind us and push for playoffs, and as the defense is so good, i think the missing link is a lethal forward. Yoann Gouffran and Che Adams(7 goals each) are brilliant for me out wide, but up top Billy Sharp and Will Grigg aren't consistently scoring goals, only 5 and 6 respectively in half a season so far, even if we have lots of chances in a game we never tend to score more than 2 in a game, and that's rare.
Blackburn got relegated last season to League 1, and surprisingly Jordan Rhodes stayed with them, and is currently top scorer in League 1 with 15. He suits my style, and always been a good finisher which is what I'm missing. With a bit of work I can negotiate a deal worth about 6 million for him, which i don't think is too bad, but as soon as i get to a contract he says that he doesn't want to even start negotiating as he doesn't think our squad matches his ambitions(Even though we're 7th in the championship and he's playing League 1.....)
I need a bit of help. Can i sign other players to improve my squad that then may sway him to come(Wage budget isn't an issue at all for me, thanks tot he board got roughly 70k spare) or is this a permanent setting each season meaning i wouldn't be able to get him no matter what i did?
My thoughts were that if I signed another 1/2 decent players that may sway him, but I don't want to waste time/money if the game doesn't allow for an opinion change mid-season?
