Norwich City have appointed a new unknown manager after Chris Hughton left the club my mutual agreement. Most Canaries fans must be wondering what the owner was thinking when he replaced Chris Hughton with a completely inexperienced manager especially at a top club like Norwich. A press conference was held at Carrow Road for the new boss to introduce himself.
Journalist:
First of all welcome to Norwich City, how does it feel to get your first managerial role at a top Premier League side like Norwich Steve?
Steve:
Thank you its great to be here. It is an amazing feeling to be here at Carrow Road managing a big Premier League club. I know a lot of the fans will be wondering why someone with pretty much no experience has been brought in to replace a great manager like Chris but I believe I can achieve big things here at Norwich.
Journalist:
What are your expectations for the coming season? Do you and the owner share the same ambitions for the club?
Steve:
I had a good creative discussion with the owner regarding the clubs future and what lies ahead and it went really well. The owner is very ambitious and so am I and we want to be in the Champions League within the next 5 seasons. I am very confident this can be achieved we have a great group of lads here and we want to be playing against the best teams in the world. This season though is a transitional period we need to establish ourselves in the top half of the table but this season we are only looking for a mid table finish and a good cup run.
Journalist:
5 years seems like a long time to be waiting for Champions League football, do you think the fans will have the patience?
Steve:
I don't think it is at all. We have to be realistic this league is very competitive and a lot of teams are battling for a top 4 finish. This is a long term project and patience is key, I think the fans will appreciate what we are trying to do here and support it 100%.
Journalist:
Just one last question before you embark on this long term adventure, the last time Norwich won a major trophy was the League Cup back in 1985. A bit of silverware is long overdue don't you think?
Steve:
Of course, the fans are desperate to fill up the trophy cabinet and that will come with time. I plan on winning a domestic cup within the next 3 years so they shouldn't have to wait too long.
Journalist:
Thanks a lot for speaking with us Steve we'll let you get to work now. We wish you well and hope to see around for a long time.
