Norwich City have appointed a new unknown manager after Chris Hughton left the club my mutual agreement. Most Canaries fans must be wondering what the owner was thinking when he replaced Chris Hughton with a completely inexperienced manager especially at a top club like Norwich. A press conference was held at Carrow Road for the new boss to introduce himself.
Journalist:
First of all welcome to Norwich City, how does it feel to get your first managerial role at a top Premier League side like Norwich Steve?

Steve:
Thank you its great to be here. It is an amazing feeling to be here at Carrow Road managing a big Premier League club. I know a lot of the fans will be wondering why someone with pretty much no experience has been brought in to replace a great manager like Chris but I believe I can achieve big things here at Norwich.

Journalist:
What are your expectations for the coming season? Do you and the owner share the same ambitions for the club?

Steve:
I had a good creative discussion with the owner regarding the clubs future and what lies ahead and it went really well. The owner is very ambitious and so am I and we want to be in the Champions League within the next 5 seasons. I am very confident this can be achieved we have a great group of lads here and we want to be playing against the best teams in the world. This season though is a transitional period we need to establish ourselves in the top half of the table but this season we are only looking for a mid table finish and a good cup run.

Journalist:
5 years seems like a long time to be waiting for Champions League football, do you think the fans will have the patience?

Steve:
I don't think it is at all. We have to be realistic this league is very competitive and a lot of teams are battling for a top 4 finish. This is a long term project and patience is key, I think the fans will appreciate what we are trying to do here and support it 100%.

Journalist:
Just one last question before you embark on this long term adventure, the last time Norwich won a major trophy was the League Cup back in 1985. A bit of silverware is long overdue don't you think?

Steve:
Of course, the fans are desperate to fill up the trophy cabinet and that will come with time. I plan on winning a domestic cup within the next 3 years so they shouldn't have to wait too long.

Journalist:
Thanks a lot for speaking with us Steve we'll let you get to work now. We wish you well and hope to see around for a long time.

This is my first story lads so I hope you's enjoy. Any tips or criticism are welcome:P!

A nice start there Steve, looking forwards to seeing how you get on :) Best of luck!

So pre-season was a bit up and down but overall I thought it went pretty well. The only 2 teams we played that were any sort of challenge were Lokamotiv Moscow and Getafe. We managed to be Moscow pretty easily but slipped up against Getafe. My assistant handled the friendlies so I'm not too worried.

Now down to transfers! A few players came in and few went out and I think we managed to some great business in the transfer window.

The first lad we brought in was Josef Husbauer, a lot of Premier League clubs are after him in real life and at 3.5m he's an absolute ******!

I decided we needed a new right back as Russell is decent but Joel Ward is young and will definitely provide some competition in that position.

The next to come in is young winger Jese Lingard. This kid has bags of talent and even though its only a 6 month loan deal I want to see how he progresses and I can buy him at any time for 3.9m.

And finally a beast of a centre half in Efe Ambrose! Paid 800k and exchanged Turner for him as Turner was the last year of his contract and wanted far too much!

Decent pre-season results and some very nice signings there, all of whom are fairly unknown to me, so will be interesting to see how they do! All the best!

Great news for Norwich Football Club and its supporters as the board announced plans to improve the Youth Facilities at the club. Canaries boss Steve had this to say regarding the news; "This is a great day for the club its very exciting times for this football club. One of our main goals is to be able to develop our own players and nurture them through our own system. I think this makes a statement and proves how committed the owner is too our long term plan and his desire to see this club succeed."

So I ended up playing August and September by mistake but never mind! Here's how the first couple of months went.

Norwich 1-1 Spurs
Carrow Road

A draw against Spurs in our first game was a good result but overall it was a pretty boring game. I think we just edged it and could of sneaked a win but I was happy with a point!

Man City 1-1 Norwich
The Etihad

After picking up a good point against Spurs we then travelled to The Etihad to face an unbelievable in Manchester City where we also managed to pick up a point! You can probably see from looking at the stats we were lucky but it's a great result for us!

Norwich 3-1 Crewe
Carrow Road

We then welcomed League One side Crewe to Carrow Road for the League Cup encounter and we dominated from start to finish. It was a comfortable victory from us and a fully deserved one, my first as the Norwich manager.

Norwich 1-1 Southampton
Carrow Road

After picking up 2 great points from our first couple of league games I was hoping our home advantage would allow us to sneak a victory but we were probably lucky to escape with a point. Southampton are a good side so I was happy with a point.

Cardiff 0-0 Norwich
Cardiff City Stadium

After 3 draws in the league I was hoping to pick up all 3 points against Championship winners Cardiff to really kick start our season but it turned out to be a very flat and boring stalemate in wales.

Sunderland 1-1 Norwich
The Stadium Of Light

After a long trip to Wales we then had to travel all the way up to the North East to face Sunderland and I was quite confident we could pick up all 3 points here and we were on course to do that until Fabio Borini scored a 90th minute equaliser to deny me my first league win of the season.

Norwich 1-2 Everton
Carrow Road

So the draw for the third round of the cup gave us a home tie against a very strong Everton side and they completely bossed us all game. Very poor performance from my side as I was hoping for a good run in the cup but we were outclassed by Everton.

Norwich 1-0 Crystal Palace
Carrow Road

We finally ended our run of draws with a very convincing win over Play Off winners Crystal Palace. Although it was only 1-0 we dominated possession and controlled the game. I changed my tactic for this game and it seemed to pay off getting my first league win of the season. Ricky Van Wolfsfinkel getting his first goal for the club.

So at the end of September we find ourselves sitting in 8th with 8 points from our first 6 games. 5 draws and 1 win means we are still unbeaten in the league which is great. Overall it was a good couple of months, could of been better but it could of been a lot worse.

The big centre half has put in a string of fine performances over the past couple of months getting an average rating of 7.60 in 6 appearances.
