Towards the start of every campaign you are asked as manager to tell your groundstaff the size of pitch you want. Obviously there are minimum and maximum values but i was just wondering if it actually matters at all and if the type of football played differs dramatically due to pitch size, cheers

yh it does matter, teams who play with alot of width wud benefit and exploit the oppostion on a wider pitch whereas teams with no width at all are best suited to a small pitch.
in real life depeding on the team you are playin groundsmen some times alter the pitch size to benefit your team

yeah cheers mate, it's fairly self explanatory but i was wondering if the pitch size had a massive impact in the game

yh it does bcos a wide pitch means quick players will be able to get in behind defenders and a narrow pitch wud be very hard for a team tht relies on wingers n full baks 2 attack bcos everything is so narrow n played throw the middle. narrow pitch also tires ur players more, as they need 2 wrk harder 2 get and keep the ball

Long Wide Pitch:

Requires - Fast Wingers.

Key to winning games. If there's alot of space then you should have them crossing from the byline with quick direct football. Target man should use head.
Also, another tactic is to have either a quick target man trying to beat the offside trap and running on to the ball. Wingers thus can switch wingers alternating between crossing and running inside and playing a through ball for ur striker.

Need to be careful as the opposition will try something similar so you need to instruct FB's accordingly.

Short Narrow:

Requires more central play. Probably better by knocking one of your strikers back into midfield and slowly building up play with a mixed/short style of passing and not so much of an attacking mentality.
Key to winning these games is keeping possesion and hoping ur wingers/link up/striker will put away a couple of the chances. If direct balls are played then they will be overhit and the opposition will pick up the loose balls (the opposite is true for long pitches as shorter passes may not reach their targets)
Also through balls are more risky since there's less room for manuever.

Yh because if you select minimum and you play wide play tactic the wide players will not make a impact.
