Play maker in a 4-2-4/4-2-2-2

I really want to use a play maker in my tactic for man utd.
It is going to be a 4-2-4 or 4-2-2-2...however you see it
One cm will be ball winning midfielder (defend)
If i play my other cm as advanced play maker should this be on support or attack?
