News coming out of Fratton Park seems to point to the resignation of Michael Appleton. It is unknown the reasons for his resignation but after everything that has happened to the club some people have not been to shocked by it. It has been confirmed by several members of staff at the club that Portsmouth are looking for a new manager and are asking for people to apply - Knowing that it is unlikely that they will be able to bring in a world class manager the club have confirmed that they would closely look at any and all applications that come in for the job.

After getting thousands of applications from Portsmouth supporters the club have confirmed the new manager to take over at Fratton park is - Ash(ley) Kellaway 25. Ash is 25 years old and is said to be delighted to take over at his home town club and is relishing the challenge that it will bring. While some fans are said to be furious with the choice of manager as Ash has no previous management experience, just like the thousands of other fans that applied.

Ash Kellaway has taken no time in changing thing at the club having already managed to bring in Mikkel Anderson(Reading), Eric Lichaj(Aston Villa) Callum McManaman(Wigan) and Rudek Cherny(QPR) on loan as he tries to bring the wages down that are currently more then then £5,000 in the red while sending out several youngsters and trying to sell or loan out other players to further reduce the crippling wages that have been a thorn in Portsmouth side for several years.Players that have been linked as possible players to leave include McLeod, Rodgers and Williamson though being key players they take up a combined £11,500 a week in wages and As Stated:

"Things have to change, the club is struggling financially - we must sell the high earning players to keep the book balanced. Survival as a club is the first thing on my mind. Then it is the league we are simply aiming to stay up and we will evaluate things at the end of the season and see where we are and what we can do. We will be starting the Friendly matches soon and they will be very important to judge the squad and see where else i need to strenghten"

Bright Brighton!

Brighton come from behind to secure a 2 - 1 victory at Fratton park in Ash kellaway's first match in charge. New signings Andersen, Lichaj and McManaman all made debuts. Despite some good chances wasted notably by Buzsaky the Half Time score was 0 - 0, However 5minutes into the second half Michalik gave Portsmouth a deserved lead - even if the goal was a fluke as his freek took a huge deflection giving the keeper no chance at saving it. However a late fight back with goals from Vincelot(72) and Agdestein(80) secured the win as Portsmouth rued wasted chances and a lack of ability to retain possession.

Ash Stated : "We knew it was going to be a tough match, we wasted to many chances especially in the first half and we gave the ball away to much and to easily. We have alot of work to do - we know that and this is why we have friendly matches. We tried a 4 - 3 - 2 - 1 formation today but maybe at this moment in time it isnt quite ready - we didnt create enough good chances 5 shots on target from 15 is not good enough"

Portsmouth Finally Win!

Having been beatn 2 - 1 by Brighton having led the match and then getting beaten 3 - 0 by Peterborough Portsmouth finally have won a Friendly match as the won 4 - 0 away at Lincoln. Though not the best of teams it was a still a challenge for a such a newly built team usch as Portsmouth McLeod opened the scoring with a fine goal on 9minutes. Lee Williamson added the second on 29minutes before a double salvo from Brian Howard in the second half (70, 78) secured the win.

Ash Stated : "It was great to finally get a win. It was a good performance and the lads played well and the goals were taken very well. We have to build on this heading into our final friendly before the Capital One Cup match against Bristol Rovers"
