Player dual nationality-why cant he be called up to second nationality team

Hi all,
I have a young wonderkid i have kept in my youth team for a few years specifically so he could gain citizenship and play for my national team,
at the beginning of the season he acquired the nationality I needed as he had played for 5 years in the country, He has no caps for his original nationality and on the information screen it states that he is eligible for both,
however there is absolutely no option to call him up to my national team,there is no national team tab at all when i try any actions on this player.
It has got to March in the season he gained citizenship and without me beeing able to call him up i am afraid his home nation will get there first.
Anyone else have any tips on what i need to do? Do i need to wait till the end of the season so he has completed a 6th year maybe?

He will only consider a call up from his original national team at this time.

It will say that on his info screen probably, that'll be your problem i think

Says he is happy to be in his original teams u21 squad but does not say the standard "will only accept a call-up from x team"
And even then it would still normally have the national team tab, then when you select to call him up he would reject me, i however do not even get a national team tab on this player

There should be an option in the game through private chat to speak to the player to see if you can convince them to play for your national team, like you can convince players to come out of retirement. It is definately something that needs implementing imo.

If he is in the U21 sqaud of another nation you will not be able to call him up to your squad until he is no longer in that squad. You could try to remove him from the national team call up next time it happens, you risk ******* him off, but then if you call him up for his first full international cap they usually like you.

Well on my save geromel as 2nd nationakity(italy)and he has 1 cap for italy
