hello everyone im new to this site im playing a game as arsenal not doing to well just wondered if anyone could help me out a little i want to create a 4-4-2 thats quite solid defensivley and can keep possesion well . All i seem to do is keep giving the ball away.thx ppl

Hey Markyinislington,

I good formation for Arsenal is:
--------------GK----------------
LB--------CB-----CB---------RB
LM--------CM----CM---------RM
------------ST---ST-------------
Arrows: LB - Up, Both CB - Down, RB - Up, LM - Up, RM - Up, One CM Up and the other Down.

If that doesn't work, a formation that I use quite often is:
-------------GK---------------
LB--------CB---CB---------RB
-------------DM---------------
----------CM---CM------------
RM--------------------------LM
-------------ST----------------
Arrows: LB - Up, RB - Up, Both CB - Down, DM - Up, Both CM - Up, RM - Up, LM - Up

Hope it helps

Try the Role Theory tactics set I made in 4-4-2. It's very, very basic but it might give you a start. The control version should be the 'best' general one for Arsenal but obviously a lot will depend on who you're playing etc.

Changes to make:

Go to the individual player instructions screen and lower the passing by 4 'clicks' to the left for each and every player. This will shorten the passing. You might want to even try 6 'clicks' to the left to make it even shorter.

Go to the player instruction screen for the central midfielder who plays on the right. Make sure his forward runs are set to 'rarely'. This will ensure he plays deeper and covers your defence for added protection.

Go to the indivdual player instructions screen and for every player who has 'forward runs' set to 'often', increase 'creative freedom' by 4 'clicks' to the right. This might be a little too much, but Arsenal have a lot of 'flair' players who would benefit from this. I'd increase Cesc's creative freedom by the same amount no matter where you're playing him btw but if you're playing him in that more defensive midfielder role, you might want to consider reading the TT&F and changing his player instructions to that of a 'deep lying playmaker'. For the forward/striker who is playing on the right of the front two, increase his creativity by the same amount and give him a 'free role' if he's classed as an FC or is listed as playing in a number of positions as well as ST. You want your pacy goalscorer playing on the left hand side of the pairing. Increase his creative freedom if you want to, although in honesty you don't really want him doing anything more creative than slotting the ball in the back of the net at the end of moves ;)

The tactics will take about 4 or 5 games to start working properly. Let your team 'gel' too by not bringing in too many new players. Watch the matches and check what Pat Rice recommends you should be doing to improve the tactics every 10 minutes of the match or so - various things may make certain parts of the tactics not work on certain days or with certain players or against certain styles of play, so it's always worth having a twiddle inmatch if things aren't quite working. Good luck :)
