I don't understand them sometimes my advanced playmaker get a 9.0 and I lose 1-0. Didn't score or assist so how do u get such a good rating lol

Key passes, tackles or headers? Interceptions? No mistakes? Passing, heading and tackling percentages good?

Made a good few passes more than anyone but only 3 key passes. Had a decent game but strikers need a goal or 2 to get a 9 so surely midfielders should need to assist at least one for a 9

They don't, as your example proves. There is still only one code for player ratings. It's not position specific, yet, which is why DM positions struggle to get great ratings.
