One of my hot prospect regens handed in a transfer request at the beginning of the season (the day after the transfer window closed). I was hoping with a good first half of the season (2nd in EPL) he'd change his mind and ask to stay. Next thing I see the board have agreed to sell him for £11m. I would've liked to have kept him, but the thing I was really annoyed about was the board selling him without me knowing. Is there anyway to show my anger at them? When the regen finally left he said he was sad to leave and will miss working with me! Idiot.

resign! unfortunately it happens mate :( you cannot do anything

I wish you could issue an ultimatum to the board if the accept an offer for a player. You get it in real life. Didn't O'Neil leave in protest over the same of Milner?

Raikan007 hit the nail on the head. This happened to me once before and i resigned from the role. One of the most annoying things to happen to you but you've just got to get on with it.
Maybe this could be something to add into FM12 in the boardroom section. Possibly an option to ask the board why they have sold a player over your head and an ability to show your disgust with the decision.

His (Martin O'Neil) wikipedia page didn't say anything about it.

I wouldn't be surprised when my next summary comes up they will tell me they are disappointed with me letting him go. ****** game!

Sometimes you get asked by a journalist about the sale of a player behind your back, but of course if you show your digust too much your likely to get sacked.

I was hoping that would happen. It turned out it was a popular decision to get rid of him. I was quite surprised because he'd been doing ok for a 20 year old. Averaging 7.0 a game. Oh well, I made about £6m on him in just over a year.

The game is also about making a profit !

has happened to me a few times much smaller scale tho (owner selling a player for 400k) and said i wasnt happy in an interview
in general transfers like that are usually liked by the fans as they say it was good that you got the money for it.
the worst fan reaction i ever got was okay when my player averaged 7.51 and sold him for 725k

Hold on - they can make a deal behind your back? Meaning that they don't even notify you that they have accepted an offer, just that they've done the deal, sold the player and collected the fee? I've never had that happen to me, nor have I heard of that happening. I've had the board accept an offer over my head, but I'd always have the opportunity to offer the player out to other clubs and (if the player accepts one of the new offers) cancel that deal.
I'd sell the entire team for peanuts in spite and then resign. **** 'em.

Its happened to me in my current save in the 3rd season. Bought 6 promising players in summer of 2nd season. 2 years later the board have sold on 2 of these already even though i set all offers to reject. If one more goes in the next season i will just resign or make the finances really bad and hope for a board takeover and new Chairman.

Go on transfer centre, click that transfer and click cancle transfer:)

Works for me everytime even if board accept:)

****! I didn't know you could do that. I'll remember for next time!

Afraid so. I remember reading about it happening to other people before. It also happened to me at the beginning of my current save. Basically this player handed a transfer request in. I hoped he'd change his mind, but then I get a message saying the board had agreed a deal with another team for £11.5m. I didn't know how to stop it, but I do now!
