Player stars

I apologize if this question has been asked a lot of time but I'm a FM noob and I didnt find the answer with the search function.

What means CA grey stars in the *** manager report about a player?
As an exemple I managed AC Milan and I have 2 U18 that look very similar but one has half gold stars in CA and 3 gold stars in PA, the second has 3 grey stars in CA and 3 gold stars in PA.

Anyone could explain me that please?

well the first one has more CA thats why he has the half golden star and he will probably improve most attributes by 5
the other one has greys and 3 gold stars meaning he will improve most attributes by 6
every half golden star potential means the player can improve most attributes by 1
