The Southend United and former Manchester United striker Ryan Stubbs has to anounced his retirement at the the age of 38. Stubbs who had played over 300 times for Manchester United scoring 121 goals for the club during the 90s and earlys 2000s said that this day had been on the cards for a few years now. Stubbs who finished his career at Southend United playing 126 times and scoring 52 goals, found himself involved with the coaching side of the game towards the end of his career. "Obviously time has caught up with me. I can no longer run around for 90 minutes. I would like to thank everyone for giving me a fantastic career and i will never forget a moment of it" said an emotional Ryan Stubbs at a press conference this morning. Ryan Stubbs who was never capped at international level was then asked what he'd be doing now he has retired, he replied "Well i have been helping with the coaching here at Southend and have recently taking my level 1 and 2 coaching badges. I will take a nice long holiday with the wife and kids now and when i get back, i shall be keeping an eye out for any jobs that come up." We then asked Ryan if we could expect to see him going in to management and he replied "Yes, that is the next career path for me".

I have now returned from my holidays and am looking foward to starting my new career. It has been strange now having to get up every morning to go training. Since i have anounced myself as a new manager on the block, i have applied for one job. I applied at the vacant Bradford City job but i was unsuccsesfull. Never mind, i shall keep my eyes open, hopefully within the next few months when the season is well under way.
