Player Turning Coach

As Newcastle, I have Alan Smith and Peter Lovenkrands turning coaches soon enough, I've already had the private chat to offer them and they said they can make themselves available now... However, when I try to offer them a contract as a coach, they refuse and want to be a player. Why is this? Help please.

Happened with Chamakh when I tried it. They still have a career, or so they think.
Either way they should take a cheap wage, above the average staff and alot lower than a player.

Wait until they say that they will hang their boots up at the end of the season and when the seasons about to end offer them a new coach contract they should accept...
