player wants a new challenge

I have just finished my 5th Season as Aston Villa (2014).

I have had Ryan Shawcross in my team since 2010.
I have won the Prem League for the 4th time, and this season won each competition I was in (League, League Cup, FA Cup, Community Shield & Champions League).

Now Shawcross has stated he needs a new challenge.. I was just wondering whether there is any way I can convince him to want to stay.
He has spent the last 3 seasons as the rock in my defence and I really don't want to lose him..

I can understand him wanting a new challenge, as he has now won everything possible in England..

Any advice greatly appreciated.
 
either offer him a new contract or sell him off and replace him with Jordan Spence or something :D
they normally stop moaning after a couple of months or so, either try and put up with his moaning or sell him!
