Player Will Not Sign New Contract

Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on to why this has happened...

I'm a few seasons into a network game playing as Manchester United. I'm into January of the season, top of the league, won my champs league group, final of league cup... essentially doing as well as I can at this point in the season.

I've been trying to offer Januzaj a new contract since the summer and he won't even enter into talks with me. It turns out he has a minor issue of 'Unhappy at not being allowed to go on loan to Bayer Leverkusen.' This is something that happened 2 summers ago as they only offered 'Rotation' I rejected it and told him I'd loan him elsewhere. Sent him out for the season to Norwich and he played well. It seems the Leverkusen issue is still troubling him as its been a minor issue for a season and a half now. Nobody will now loan him, and strangely nobody has offered him a contract... I even loaned to him to someone else in the network game for a month but this didn't resolve the issue. If I try to talk to him about the issue he just says he's waiting to see if I keep my promise on the issue.

Pretty sure I've kept my promise and it seems theres nothing I can do. He's been a fairly consistent performer in my first team and I even had him switch agents but this didn't change anything. I'm also on his favoured personnel.

Can anyone tell me how I can actually get him to sign a new deal before it expires in the summer?

It sounds to me like a bug.
But I would recommend to try having your captain (or vice) try to settle the issue - that works for me sometimes.
Besides that make sure to give him lots of playing time, and praise him for good performances etc.

Yeah I'm guessing it's just a major bug. It won't even let me have my captain/vice talk to him on the issue!

As luck would have it he's had plenty of playing time due to injuries and he's cemented a place in my team. Hoping a string of good performances/praise and winning trophies will make it go away in time. I even signed a player he recommended which he was happy at but this didn't stop the minor issue.

Seeing as he's young I'm hoping I can keep him on rolling month-to-month deal for now because no club has come in for him as of yet.

Hopefully it will go away before the end of June and he'll finally negotiate with me.
