This has been a big part of recent editions of FM, with players frequently demanding new contracts, agents demanding new contracts or teammates rallying in favour of new contracts for their teammates

. I like FM because of the realism and the authentic management experience it gives the player. But I've always wondered is this genuinely what goes on in football in the real world? Do players actually demand a new contract 4-5 times a season after signing a new one the year before? I just can't fathom football being like this in real life, managers or DOFs having to tell the players 'no' every couple of months. What are other people's thoughts on this issue, and on the realism of contract demands in FM? I think this is one area that detracts a bit from the authenticity of the game.

My players don't "demand" new contracts 4-5 times a season. Maybe I'll have 2 or 3 asking for a contract once a season.

I also have not experienced this.
Who are you playing with ? and if they are performing that could be a reason for the wanting of the new contract.

I'm not sure I've seen it twice in a season, let alone 5 times. If a player goes from nobody to superstar for a Prem club, I guess some wage raises might be logical. That said, its usually the agent making the request. And you can ask the player to sack their agent. Food for thought....

I am playing with Napoli, did OK in first year but got my better players playing very well.

With this I have had Hamsik, Callejon, Millik, Diawara and Mertens all ask for new contracts around 4 times.

At the minute they get what they want but its not feasible to keep going.

It's probably to do with club size.league size, which I suspected. Playing as Steaua Bucharest, a big fish in small pond type situation, but I still find the frequency of it baffling. The dynamics are at a level where all **** will kick loose if I refuse too often to give new contract or sell players, and the fees I'm getting aren't great, but too many new contracts also damage the finances. I just think asking for a new contract every few months, or demanding transfers every few months even out of the window is strange. As I said in the OP, I don't actually know the reality, and I trust SI to be authentic. But, I just have a hard time believing this is truly authentic.

Experiencing the same. Alexander-Arnold just asked for a new contract for the second time this season, and we're just in October. Granted he's now captain and on ****** wages, but he's not the only one repeatedly asking for a new contract.

Not a big deal though, I just keep repeating that there's plenty of time left on their current contract and they all accept it. But if you're asking if it's realistic, then I'd say absolutely not. Begging for a new contract every other month IRL would probably get you demoted to train with the kids until you sorted your **** out.
