Hello everyone,

I dont know if this was brought up before, but I am kind of annoyed that most of the youngesters that I've bought lost their potential in copule of yeas. For example, Meyer had 5.0 when i signed him, and now he has 3 stars only, but Assistant coach keeps telling that he has the potential to be a star player. Same goes for insigne, de sciglio, shaw, ward-prowse, wellbeck, etc. Is there a wawy to prevent this? Maybe I did something wrong?

Has your team gotten better since you signed them? Has the players in the league gotten better?

The star rating frankly means **** all in retrospect since it's a comparison, not a representation.

These stars are relative potential to other players at the club. A player with 2 star potential for you will be 5 for teams in second division. Their potential lowers when you get better players at the club (probably regens with outrageous PA). Don't trust "stars" too much.
Also long term injuries can reduce it, rightly so.

Stars are just relative indicators. Don't set too much store by them. They vary, depending on what players are present in the squad. For e.g, if you look at Arsenal's squad initially, you'd think they're a bunch of doddering idiots, other than Ozil. However, the reason they look like that is because of Ozil, because he has the highest star rating, the others are compared to him and lose out. They have a pretty decent squad actually, something you wouldn't think when only looking at stars.

so how can you tell which player is star quality and whch is not?

His stats and his form. Any player can become a star player, depending on his performances. On the other side, star players may fizzle out completely too. Look at their stats, their PPMs, and their performance average. Then take a peek at their potential to see if they have any room for growth. Also, a look at a scouts report for their weaknesses and strengths. That should be enough to come to your own conclusions whether a player can be a star for you or not.

Just like everyone else is saying don't read into the star system too much, spend more time looking at their key attributes for the position/role you want them for and train them accordingly. Naturally as your best players improve the potential of a youth to reach that is harder to achieve so the star rating goes down, i agree though its frustrating to see visually but the player can still be a superstar given the right development.
