Horrible, isn't it ?.

Having a player who has about much chance getting into the first team picture as a snowball has in ****, but you can't bring yourself to part ways. My two prime examples are Hines and Sears on my Champion's League WHUFC save. Anyone else ?.

I've got two players who were my Captain and Vice-Captain for two seasons. They're both young but they just can't cut it at the level I'm now at. It's a shame but I'm keeping them. They're only on £5 a week so it's not a problem.

i wouldn't say i'm sentimental however i seem to buy alot of old players and turn them into non players instead of letting them leave the game.

I've done that as well. Had a couple of older players signed on frees that won me promotion. Said they were going to retire so now one's my *** Man, two are coaches and one's a scout.

i don't even use them though, i just sign them because i have over 100k wage budget spare and i think why not.

I had Giggs on the bench for a CL final, gave him a 10 minute run around at the grand old age of 39.

Even when I got into the Champions League 7 or so years later, I never sold Akpo Sodje from my Charlton team, purely because he scored 2 goals in the Championship Playoff final :) He ended up playing until he was about 39 and then became a coach for me :)

When I was playing AC Milan, Pato was old, his stamina and acceleration was 6 and 7, but I played him almost every game as a substitute. I then made him my *** Man :) Great game back then ..

Ten years on, and Gabby Agbonlahor was still hanging around the Villa team that had won all there was to win. Even better, he scored the winner in the Champions League final that year after recieving the ball and outpacing a similarly ageing Ryan Shawcross to slot it home past a young regen keeper that Chelsea had.

It's a sad day when your old school players retire. :(

I got the message that Giggs and Ferdinand were retiring at the same time, sad times. :'(

I think I'll be inconsolable when Scotty Parker retires, both IRL and on the game.

I signed Danny Allsopp for my Peterborough save in first season, he played a fair few games and scored in the last game of the year to give us the title. He is barely lag 1 standard yet I have him now in the prem and he plays the odd cup game and he just announced his retirement, needless to say I have made him a coach

Bowyer's retiring (at 35!) after the 2011/2012 season for me, and for some reason he wonders why I don't include him in my EPL registration squad, so I tell him he'll move on at the end of the season

So I am promising to move him on end of season and he is retiring end of season oO)

I extended Carr's deal for another year, he'll be a decent tutor, already 36 and will be 37 by the end of his extension (H)

And am I a bad boy for letting Maik Taylor and Kevin Phillips contracts expire? :$

I was upset when Arteta left. Devestated. Wouldn't even come back as coach :'(
Hate it when my fave, loyal players leave. Just leaves me feeling empty, as I know in real life it'll be happening soon to a player like Phil Neville. He's like a best friend in the game.

Even if my player's are bad coaches they stay at the club, no matter what.

The game was Championship Manager 08, and yes it's true! You are able to sign 11-year long contract with your players!
So I managed to have Robbie Fowler as a "bench-player" until the age of 47 ;)
