Players that don't want to join your club

I tried buying Quintero from Porto whilst playing as Newcastle United several times but his agent wasn't letting me. So what I did was find the cheapest player the agent represents and gave him a huge agent fee so he was friendly with me, and therefore I was then allowed to open up contract talks with Quintero and sign him.

Has anyone else done this before as I've never seen anyone write about it.

Wow, really clever if that works. Never heard of it either, but then again I'v never faced such a problem though, it's usually the player himself that doesn't want to sign for my team.
