Players Trained at club for min. 3 seasons

Have just got Southampton into the Champions Cup. The above presents a problem for me as I only have two at the club. Am I going to get kicked out of the tournament? Will it work if I re-sign a couple of the players I got rid of, even though they aren't up to it?
