after many trials and errors i've managed to forge a tactic that deserves the name giant killer. using this tactic in second season on arsenal i somehow beat bayern 8-2 dortmund 9-1 real madrid 6-0. it's also very consistent against smaller teams too, but the biggest wins are against the big teams mostly.
for this tactic, match training with attacking movement and attacking set pieces will be useful. and it's best if your team have a winger on one side and inside forward on the other (switch them accordingly if you have a right inside forward and a left winger instead of what i have here), but if not it's fine too, you can set both as wingers, and even though i haven't tried using 2 inside forwards at the same time, they should work alright. just make sure they are both on support duty.
the target man can be set as either support or attack, depends on his relative ability compared to the wingers. if he's set as support, the wingers will score a lot more while the ST will be around 7.5 avg rating. if he's set to attack he will score like 40% of the team's goals, but at the expense of the wingers. the AM will always do well, about 8+ rating through out the season, but rarely get man of the match award. the box to box midfielder needs to have decent long shot and aerial ability, if not, you should replace someone with good long shot and heading/jumping with him for the corner setting
