Pointless Short Free Kicks

I've never really done much with free kicks and just leave it on the default settings, which is probably causing the issue I'm having.

I'm playing at West Ham, so have Payet who's free kick taking is excellent (he won goal of the month for the first 3 months of the season with free kicks).

The problem I have is whenever the free kick isn't close enough to the goal for a direct shot, instead of putting it into the box he or whoever is taking the free kick, takes a short free kick to a player a couple of metres away, who them always loses it, literally every time.

Is there a way to stop this, or do I need to setup more free kick options? If so, any good suggestions for free kicks?

I just change it to cross to best header

Thanks, couldn't work out how to change it, but found it now.

Still having the same problem no matter what I change it to. It's driving me round the bend, every short free kick ends up with a counter attack and a chance for the other team.
