Currently into my 2n season with spurs and I am really struggling to get a result away from home!
Finished 3rd in 1st season and away form cost me maybe winning the league, but its against the lower rated teams like Sunderland and Blackburn etc were I struggle to get a point. I tend to do well away against likes of Chelsea, arsenal and man united etc which I find bizarre!
But I'm now into 2nd season and squad is vastly improved from last season with additions of dzeko, Hernandez, pjanic, alder and arnautovic to name afew.
Had Real Madrid in champions league group stage away and was 2-0 up with 10 men after 80 mins and managed to lose the game 3-2!
But now after that I've lost 5 in 7 against teams I shud be beating away from home easily.
Lost 2-1 to Sunderland, 2-0 to Stoke and 2-1 to fulham.
Any 1 got any advice please?

sounds like its a tactical issue, what tactics do you play? do you play the same tactic away as at home and the same tactic against good and bad opposition?

and i'm guessin you're Man City too?

I tend to go all out against the lower reputation teams, shows the squad that you have confidence in them to do the job. But bad results against lower rated sides seem to be part of the deal, has always happened in every one of my saves.

Yeah I had the same problem with my barca save, 5 points clear in feb, lost 3 away games in a row, and BAM real madrid are 8 points clear of me. and they were all against relegation teams.

I always put my team talk to 'I expect a win' for those matches now and it seems to do the trick.

maybe you should try a different approach leading up to the matches (press conferences and team talks etc..) so they arnt becoming complacent

I tend to use either 4312, 451 or 442 but they work agianst the top teams quite well

Don't play free-flow attacking football away from home. :)
I supose that you have Lennon and Bale, so use counter-attacks trough the flanks when you are away from home.
If you are conceding a lot of goals try to strenghten your defence little bit with an additional defender or anchor man.
Try to exploit they weakness.
When/if you score goal at 70' try to keep ball in possesion and play bit more defensively to decrease chance of conceding late goal.
I recommend you to use this shouts: Stand-off opponents, retain possesion, pass to feet.
If you are struggling with attack use this shouts: Pass into space, Get ball forward, Hassle Opponents, Get stuck in.

ive always found that playing a lesser team is like making love to a beautiful woman, dont go wham bam all out right from the start, be patient, look for the gaps, try a few different approaches and positions and progressively build up the tempo, until boom goes the dynamite

tbh mate sunderland arent a lesser team :/

Hmm to be honest they are compared to my team, think any1 on here would hav the likes of hazard, bale, modric, dzeko, Hernandez, Adler etc compared to gyan, Richardson, cattermole n Gordon etc lol :-p

You have good players but the ones you mentioned for Sunderland are good too... I think you are underestimating them. They are certainly good enough that their good form or your complacency will allow them to easily beat you.

I know you are looking for a tactical solution but honestly my best advice is to just keep pushing forward. Coming in 3rd as Spurs in your first season is nothing to complain about imo, and things will only get better as your new signings gel and your younger stars improve even more. In the meantime, look around for a team talk guide, and when doing press conferences try the responses that say you are worried about complacency.

Lastly, in terms of actual tactics, opposing teams generally play more attacking when they are at home (your away fixtures), and they get a boost to motivation and confidence when they are in front of their own fans. Like some people have said you will have a harder time keeping the ball and defending against attacks so you might think about shouts like "drop deeper", "play narrower" or using a starting strategy like counter.
