OK, so I'm not the best at FM. I really want to know what the different types of position are like...

whats a goalkeeper?
whats a sweeper keeper?
whats a sweeper?
whats a libeiro?
whats a central defender?
whats a ball-playing defender?
whats a limited defender?
whats a deep-lying playmaker?
whats an anchor man?
whats a central midfielder?
whats a ball-winning midfielder?
whats a box to box midfielder?
whats an advanced playmaker?
whats an attacking midfielder?
whats a wide midfielder?
whats a winger?
whats a defensive winger?
whats an inside forward?
whats a trequartista?
whats a deep-lying forward?
whats an advanced forward?
whats a target man?
whats a poacher?
whats a complete forward?
whats a defensive forward?

PLus Tactical Theorems and Frameworks 10 should give you some answers and if you want more in depth info then use google. There are some great articles on Zonalmarking.net for example.

If you're new to FM then read the Theorems&Frameworks that Mike attached to his post. It is basically the unofficial user manual to FM. It explains what each type of player does, plus gives you a some real-life examples. If you read it then you will know the differences.
