I have a couple of questions regarding player positions.
Firstly the top R/L positions on the pitch. It's not a major concern as none of my formations employ players in these positions, but I experimented with them for a couple of games and became a little confused. When you put a player in these positions you get the same player role options as the AMR/L positions, and when I put my wingers in these positions it showed them as 'Natural'. So i played a few games with wingers in these positions and got feedback from my assistant saying '______ is uncomfortable being played out of position' then advised me to re-train him as a Striker. Yet when I put Strikers in these positions it says they're 'Ineffectual'. So my question is: who is supposed to play in these positions? Are they available purely to provide symmetry?
Secondly I'm toying with a new defensive formation for my lower league side, I'm using two Wingers but I've put them in the MR/L positions. I've adjusted their player instructions so they still play like Wingers, they are essentially still Wingers, I've just employed them in deeper positions so they're in a better position on the pitch to track back. But obviously they're no longer in their 'Natural' positions, and my Assistant is suggesting I re-train them to MR/L players, can i just ignore this? If all their individual settings are still that of a Winger, will they actually play much worse for being in deeper positions?
Thanks in advance for any help.
