Possession based 4231

I'm managing at Sociedad and have some really good technical, passing midfielders. I have found geggenpress to be OP but would like establish more of a possession based 4-2-3-1 (perhaps still incorporating some elements of geggenpress). Any advice or recommendations for tactics out there?

On my phone so have to type this out, but give this a go as a standard 4-2-3-1 build for a possession-based game:

WB (d)
CB (d)
CB (d)
WB (a)
MZ (s)
CM (d)
W (s)
SS (a)
IF (s)
DLF (s)

- Much shorter passing
- Pass out of defense
- Work ball into box
- Overlap left

- Counter press
- Short kicks

- Much higher defensive line
- Much higher line of engagement
- Play offside trap
- More urgent pressing

Player instructions:
WB (a) - stay wider
IF (s) - sit narrower & roam from position
MZ (s) - more direct passing

You'll also have to set up your set pieces, etc.

I'd then save a version of the tactic under an Attacking mentality and another tactic with the same instructions under a Positive mentality, with perhaps a more defensively solid tactic as my 3rd option for when you come up against Barcelona, Real Madrid, etc.
