Pre Season Tours

Is there any point in pre-season tours beyond the obvious? Do they bring any advantages random friendlies don't? Does your profile/popularity in the country it's held rise?
Being that almost everything in the game is there for a reason I thought there must be some hidden benifit.

as far as im aware it is there because alot of teams go away of pre season tours. i dont think there are any benefits to it but if there is then they are very well hidden
