Preparing to launch

Every time i try to open FM12 a box appears saying "preparing to launch football manager 2012" but this then disappears and nothing else happens. FM doesn't appear on my screen or in my task manager. i have tried verifying cache folders in steam but this doesn't work either.

How can i play my game i paid money for?

Press control+alt+delete and open task manager.
Go on the tab called Processes.
There should be a process called Steam32.exe or somthing like that.
If you stop that process, then FM usually then launches for me.

Thanks for your help but this doesn't work either.
I'm sure its not my laptop as I've had the demo working on here fine.
