Pressing, marking, space and defensive shape

I'm working primarily with a possession based Control 4-4-2 Diamond with a DLP, and a BBM and Roaming Playmaker ahead of him. The tactic is working really well so far, but I've noticed a tendency against certain teams that players can waltz through the middle of the park, taking shots or (less concerning given how forward my fullbacks are) down the outside and cross.

I'm using press more and push forward instructions, but I think I may need to change that to keep more a shape. Anyone get good advice on how to win the ball back quickly, or other things that may affect this?

ask your players to play more what they are expected to play (more structured shape) instead of asking to play above of what they are expected to play (more fluid shape)
