My pulse raced as I stood, feeling quite alone, while the deafening roar of the crowd battered my eardrums.

I wouldn't call it nerves - I had prepared for this very moment all night. If I were honest, I'd say that I visualized this moment all week: for what other result could there possibly be?

Suddenly, I felt an overwhelming urge to vomit - which I fought back with every fiber of my being. Unable to delay any longer, I embraced the fate that lay before me.

My eyes narrowed as I took one final glance at the target. I tricked my brain into thinking that I was surrounded by silence, took a deep breath, and willed my body forward.

Time seemed to stand still, as my body moved forward. Somehow, miraculously, my hand made contact with the Old Fashioned glass. I grasped it tightly, and dumped its whiskey into my mouth.

"Right then!" I bellowed, slamming the glass on the table, "where to next, lads?"

"Mate, I think..." came a reply.

"...it's time for you to go home," interrupted another voice. "Let's get you in a cab..."

"Azgeijwads....", I protested, feeling a grip on my arm and stumbling towards the exit.

The night blurred away, and suddenly it was morning, and my alarm clock blared out, worsening my pounding headache.

Time to head to work.
