Wondering if anyone can help. For the next two weeks I'm having to use my backup PC, which runs XP SP3 whilst my usual Pc (runs windows 8.1, never had an issue with the game) gets refurbished.

I have reinstalled the game on this computer as I would do on any other and it simply will not run... I click on the FM14 Icon (have also tried via the start menu and playing direct through steam), the game attempts to start and then nothing happens, at all... Have deleted my appcache files for Steam, as well as flushing the application files, then thoroughly checked and have no programmes installed which conflict with Steam or launching of games, even gone as far as disabling ALL start-up applications, exiting and re-opening steam, restarting the PC itself... Have tried absolutely everything I can think of (despite not being a complete whizz-kid, know more than enough about these things to generally get by) and still the game just will not run.

Anyone else encountered similar problems or know of a fix to this?

The thought of not playing for a fortnight is highly disconcerting... Will get the jitters before long!

Thanks people.

Check game minimum requirements.
Maybe you don't have enough disk space or RAM or even processor ..

Yeah, despite it being an older machine (god I miss my computer) has more than enough capability to run the game... Am still yet to find a solution. I shall prevail though, no matter what it takes :P

the solution is on the fm 2014 website, had thsame problem, the game goes black just b4 it gets to the game screen.
But i cant remeber on top of my head, fink you hold down F9, CTR AND DELETE while game is bout to start launching but am nt 100% sure.
