To the best of my knowledge, messing with this
file can cause many unwanted side effects.
always make a backup copy if you attempt to edit the core files.

I've been doing a bit of experimenting with editing the comps.fmf (directory: C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\football manager 2012\data\comps.fmf) as I want to edit the existing leagues without having to recreate them in the editor. Example adding a reserves league to the Irish Premier and First Divisions and reducing the rounds of fixtures from 4 to 3.

I'm looking to the seasoned FM Editors for their advice on what to avoid or any tips they can give me to keep my sanity somewhat intact. What are the limitations to this method of editing and is there anything I should stay away from?

Thanks in advance for the help.

dont delete champions league or some domestic competition. you can change dates, prizes, promotion and relegation places...
if you want to add reserves league use editor. its much easyer
