After a good but unsuccessful attempt at saving Queens Park Rangers from relegation R's Manager Chris Ramsey has decided to step back and do what he does best - Manage the u21's. After a long thought process, Chairman Tony Fernandes and Director of Football Sir Les thought that with the new policy of signing and developing younger players, Chris would be the right man to lead the future prospects of Queens Park Rangers. When asked why he didn't leave to manage elsewhere he stated 'I've had some good experience at QPR. I now know what its like to lead the first team and understand the rights and wrongs. It's definitely a career move i'd consider pursuing in future however at present I feel part of the QPR family and I'm more than happy to step back to what I do best for the benefit of the club. You never know what the future holds, but we've got a great bunch of lads here and the upcoming season is all that's on my mind. It's understood that Ramsey has signed a 2 year deal as manager of the U21's and according to sources was tempted with a pay rise. He is set to work alongside former U18's manager Paul Hall.
Fans favorite and QPR veteran Clint Hill has been appointed R's Boss by Chairman Tony Fernandes. After a 5 year spell at the club including 2 promotions and 2 relegation's 36 year old Hill decided to hang up his boots this year and was expected to take up a coaching role or become a club ambassador at QPR. However, after thorough discussions with Fernandes and Sir Les they decided that Clint was the man to lead the R's in their return to the championship in the upcoming season. Some questioned the appointment due to Hill's lack of managerial experience which was soon responded to by chairman Tony Fernandes 'Although Clint isn't an experienced manager, he fits the bill of exactly what we were looking for: a hungry, passionate manager who knows the club inside out. In his time at the club, Clint showed real qualities of a future manager due to his great team leading skills, hence his captaincy for 5 years at the club. The guy bleeds blue and white and I'm sure he will lead us to success.' When Director of Football Les Ferdinand was asked about Hill's lack of experience he responded 'Nonsense. All you have to do is look at the success of Garry Monk at Swansea this season, who shared similar qualities to Clint, to know that Clint has great potential to lead the R's to success in many years to come'. It is understood that Hill will report to pre-season training next week at Harlington with the rest of the squad.
