question about shouts

If for example I changed my playmaker's passing to about 4-5 notches, and than I use the 'Retain possession' shout, does it lower it even further?

Or does it keep the same instructions and only changes it if I havn't edited it?

It only effects " untweaked" sliders.

That's what I thought, I've seen a few tactics in the forums that still suggests using shouts and I just didn't understand the point.

It might be because the user don't know this...or... That it deliberate as the shout " retain" also effects the width and tempo.
