I love to build my team around 1 very swift lethal poacher. However I never manage to get the most out of them. For example Mario Gomez. High finishing, anticipation, off the ball and pace. Yet i never manage to get them score loads of goals. Does any of you have any idea how to supply a poacher?

All my tactics so far don't have 1 striker that scores almost all of the goals. My midfielders or sometimes even my defenders score more often (wingbacks or center backs from corners). I would prefer playing to the middle giving him through balls. Or let the BBM run wide and give a through ball from wide.

I realise i need to give the poacher space and freedom. But thats all i know... Someone has experience with this issue?

Having the same problem myself. I go through a spell of my striker having tons of space and chances and (sometimes) goals, but then a long phase of absolutely nothing and relying on set pieces and my midfielders to pop up and score to dig me out of a hole.

there are some good combinations with the poacher, in 2 strikers formation i usually set the poacher with a target man if i have a good one, otherwise you can go with CF/S or DLP/S. if he is the lone striker better select support on the flanks and maybe an AP/A behind him. the instruction "move into channels" is essential :)

What about if your'e playing a 4-2-3-1?

if you want to use WBs i would go with this
GK
WB/A -- CD/D -- CD/D -- WB/A
--------- ? -------- ? ------
DW/S ------- AP/A ------- DW/S
-------------- P/A --------------
maybe you can select for WBs (stay wider, get further forward), DWs (hold position, sit narrower), AP (roam from position), P(move into channels)

A poacher needs support. Either from a target man, or from other more advanced players...you need to feed him through balls, so passing into space is essential. He is prolly best used against opponents who play a high defensive line, so he has space behind their defence to exploit.
