Firstly i would like to say that ive only just started using this tactic but so far the results have been mainly posotive except a loss to real madrid. I am playing as man city and am 1st with 5 wins and 2 draws which is decent considering ive already played chelsea, tottenham, liverpool and arsenal
The tactic basics
In many ways the tactic is similar to that of real madrid as it focuses on quick attacks and high pressing. However it also involves lots of crosses to utilise defenders inability to defend them in fm15. As a result your players must be good passers but you also need some fast players in your side
The formation
There are two formations that i use that are both pretty standard and both quite similar to each other in that they play 1 up front with 3 in cm/dm. The first formation is 433 with 3 center mids. The central centre mid is set to bwm with defend and he is responsible for protecting the back for when under heavy opposition pressure but also winning the ball to stop their counter attacks. I chose him instead of an anchor man in cdm because he seems to offer more with the ball at his feet which is important because he has to start quick counters with direct balls.
My other two centre mids are set to advanced playmaker with support. These have to be good technical players and are the main men in terms of starting counters and also probing the back for when the opposition have lots of men behind the ball.
The inside forwards are the two most important attacking players in this tactic. They need to be fast but also because they often come inside into the box they need to have decent finishing to take advantage of the cccs they will get. They are set to attack.
The lone striker is a false nine. He is often involved with creating chances as well as scoring so needs good playmaking attributes as well as finishing and pace. He also has to be quick to react to low crosses coming into the box
Around 60% of the crosses will come from the wing backs who are set to attack and are vital to get crosses into the box. They will be instructed to aim at the near post as this is where ive had most success with crosses.
Finally the keeper is a sweeper to compensate for a high line whilst the center backs are set to normal with defend duties. The keeper has an attack duty
There are two main differences with my other formation. Firstly the bwm is played in the dm position to give more cover. Secondly one ap is set to attack whilst the other is set to a roaming playmaker with support.
Team instructions
direct passing - It allows you to get up the pitch quickly
play out of defence - It is important that when you win the ball you start a counter and dont just boot it up
work ball into box - The players should refrain from taking long shots and instead pass forward into the box to someone in a better position. This means you dont waste attacks
pass into space - Through balls are needed for an effective counter or general attack
low crosses - This compensates for having a striker who is not always in the box and isnt the best at heading as it means the crosses are more precise to his feet
exploit the flanks - This means who get plenty of crosses in but also compensates for the fact your striker is not always up but your wingers are
play wider - Again this is too allow you to get in those over powered crosses
Push higher up - Allows for high pressing and goals that come from winning the ball high up the pitch
close down more - High pressing giving the opponents little time on the ball and forcing them into mistakes
higher tempo - To get the ball upfield quickly and try to constantly craft out chances
In terms of player instructions i use play wider on my wing packs, close down less on my defenders and shoot less when available
I unfortunately dont yet have any screen shots and would love it if anyone could test my tactic and give feedback on how good it is and what needs improving
