Quite simple. Rank your club's regular players in their order of importance towards the team. This should be based on performances, so new signings should not be included at this point.

1. Gareth Bale
2. Luka Modric
3. Tom Huddlestone
4. Ledley King
5. Heurelho Gomes
6. Aaron Lennon
7. Jermaine Defoe
8. Michael Dawson
9. Wilson Palacios
10. Vedran Corluka
11. Benoit Assou-Ekotto
12. Peter Crouch
13. Niko Kranjcar
14. Younes Kaboul
15. Sebastien Bassong
16. Robbie Keane
17. Giovani dos Santos
18. Roman Pavlyuchenko
19. Kyle Walker
20. Jermaine Jenas
21. Carlo Cudicini

My ratings have changed dramatically since the close of last season. Wilson Palacios is the biggest change, as I used to believe he was in our top 3 best players, but he has not been the same since the death of his brother. Jermaine Jenas has dropped like a stone, but this has been ongoing for multiple seasons now. Gareth Bale is top, just slightly ahead of Modric based on performances, and Huddlestone is in that top 3 ahead of Palacios as his performances recently have been exceptional. Deadly Ledley and Gomes make up the top 5, as they helped us maintain the best home defensive record in 2009.

What are your ratings? Feel free to comment and criticise other people's decisions, but try not to take it too far and get my thread closed. <)

Let's put this into perspective.

1. Cesc Fabregas
...
21. Lukasz Fabianski

I'll do it for United...

1. N Vidic
2. W Rooney
3. P Evra
4. P Scholes
5. J O'Shea
6. E Van Der Sar
7. Nani
8. D Fletcher
9. D Berbatov
10. A Valencia
11. R Ferdinand
12. J S Park
13. R Giggs
14. J Evans
15. Rafael
16. Anderson
17. M Owen
18. O Hargreaves
19. G Neville
20. G Obertan
21. T Kuszczak

Without Vidic the backline would be really shakey especially as Rio is injured all the time. Scholes has really shown he still deserves to be a first team regular and with no other player like him he is vital for United. Also put John O'Shea quite high, just because he's so versatile and especially as the defence has a lot of injuries he needs to be fit to fill in the gaps. I put Nani ahead of Valencia because I think Nani offers more, even though Valencia does set up Rooney a lot.

I'll do this after a couple more games of the season.

For the Chels

1. Petr Cech
2. Frank Lampard
3. Ashley Cole
4. Didier Drogba
5. John Terry
6. Florent Malouda
7. Michael Essien
8. Nico Anelka
9. Alex
10. Brana Ivanovic
11. Obi Mikel
12. Sala Kalou
13. Paulo Ferriera
14. Yuri Zhirkov
15. Jose Bosingwa
16. Danny Sturridge

As Mourinho once said after a match winning performance against Portsmouth at Fratton Park, Cech is a goalkeeper that will win you 10points alone in a season and for me he is the only player we would really suffer without.

Although I agree regarding Cech, I think Lampard is key to Chelsea too.

His 20+ goals each season are what keep Chelsea up there. No other midfielder in the league supplies that.

oh yer agreed but if Lamps does miss any games we have Benayoun, Ramires, Kakuta even Malouda can sit in centre midfield to cover Lamps. But if we lose Cech we got Turnbull and Hilario.

Heavily skewed by current form, injuries and contract issues

1 - José Enrique (joint)
1 - Andy Carroll
3 - Kevin Nolan
4 - Joey Barton
5 - Jonas Gutierrez
6 - Steve Harper
7 - Mike Williamson
8 - Alan Smith
9 - Fabricio Coloccini
10 - Wayne Routledge
11 - Peter Lovenkrands
12 - Shola Ameobi
13 - Steven Taylor
14 - Ryan Taylor
15 - Danny Simpson
16 - Xisco
17 - Danny Guthrie
99 - Leon Best

Not happy with that order, but struggling to move our RBs and Guthrie further up. Never liked Guthrie though...

Think you are being a little too harsh on Luke Young. He's, at least, better than that piece of **** Downing.

1. Carlos Tevez
2. Vincent Kompany
3. Nigel De Jong
4. Yaya Toure
5. Adam Johnson
6. Joe Hart
7. Kolo Toure
8. Gareth Barry
9. Pablo Zabaleta
10. Micah Richards
11. Patrick Vieira

For a club with a squad size of around 70 players, you sure know how to be lazy. <)

10. Sagna
11. Almunia

Probably, but we're talking about importance to the team, and we have three right backs as compared to two left wingers. Downing is a more important backup.
