Welcome to my Real Sociedad save...

My goals for the save:
First season: Qualify for Europe (either Champions League or Europa League)
Second season: Win a domestic cup; finish top 4
Third season: Challenge for the title; reach the semi-final of the Champions League
Fourth Season: Win La Liga; win the Champions League

I hope you enjoy this save and make sure to give me tips on how to improve.

Season preview

View attachment 349508
I decided to choose a top half finish so I could have some leeway if I do not achieve Europe in my first season, which - however - means that my transfer budget is very low, so transfers will be unlikely for the first season - or half at least.

Squad
View attachment 349507View attachment 349506
So the squad is average, some good potential players but not many 'class' players as of yet. Hoping for some good progress from my younger members of the squad.

Here are my top players in defence, midfield and attack:

Defender:
View attachment 349505
Inigo Martinez -
He is probably my best centre back and he is still young, only 22. He has great potential and I can see him becoming a big player for us in the coming years.

Midfielder:
View attachment 349504
Antoine Griezmann -
Currently the best player in my team, a world class player and there is already interest from Tottenham and Manchester City. He is a brilliant player and could still grow as he is only a mere 22 years old.

View attachment 349502
Sergio Canales -
This young man was a close second for me, he is a great player and could grow significantly in the future, I think he could play a huge part in my season this year.

Attacker:
View attachment 349501
Imanol Agirretxe -
I think our attack is our weakest part of our team as you can see from Agirretxe, our best striker. It is fair to say he isn't a great player, so that is definitely my main focus for improvements. A positive of him not being so good is that he is unlikely to score a lot of goals, which means I won't have to type out that name too much.

Youth Prospects -
View attachment 349499
Ruben Pardo -
I am definitely looking forward to using this young man. He has some great stats and has huge potential, will definitely be a key player for us in the coming years!

View attachment 349495
Ander Bardaji -
I'm looking forward to seeing him grow and I am confident he will become our number one goalkeeper, but he is isn't yet good enough for the squad so it will take some time.

View attachment 349492
Haris Steferovic -
I thought about choosing him as best attacker but then chose him as more of a youth prospect as his current stats are very average. I am looking forward to using him throughout my first season and watching him grow.

Antoine Griezmann Transfer Saga!

Griezmann Transfer Saga!
View attachment 349473View attachment 349472
Both Man City and Tottenham followed up their interest with bids.

Tottenham's bid:
View attachment 349471

Manchester City's bid:
View attachment 349470

Clearly I was not going to accept either of those ridiculous bids!

Bad news...

View attachment 349469

It might not seem bad but we have absolutely no wage budget, so we could not afford his wage demand and I was forced to offer several incentives for him to stay, but did he accept?

View attachment 349467

Indeed he did accept the contract.

It wasn't much of a saga, it only lasted 3 days... But it was great for me as he is going to be my key player and I couldn't afford to lose him (I can barely afford to keep him though, literally).

Youth Players!

I was scanning through the Sociedad 'B' team and decided to move a few players up to the first team.

Iker Hernandez -
View attachment 349452
I think he looks like a great young player and has great potential, I will use him as back up to my two main strikers instead of loaning in a striker. He looks like a future star.

Pablo Hervais -
View attachment 349450
He looks like a decent winger, I will probably only use him in the cup but he is decent back up in case of injuries and has lots of time to reach his full potential.

Alain Oyarzun -
View attachment 349443
He looks like a good winger and I'm sure he will reach his potential and become a great winger for us. Will be back up at the moment but will probably get his chances coming off the bench.

This is the closest I think we will get to a transfer, a few deals happened but were cancelled due to our lack of funds, it's going to be a boring window for the Sociedad faithful.

First Sign of the Apocalypse: Real Socieded Making a Signing....

It looked set to be an extremely dull transfer window for me until I went to the board to ask for more funs, and surprisingly... They said yes! So we were injected with a £2.5m transfer budget and I made my first signing.

Mahamadou Diarra -
View attachment 349421
I signed him as a free agent but I was required to pay £700k compensation which forced me to originally cancel the transfer. I felt like I needed to bulk up the centre of midfield and I think Diarra is the best man to do so, behind him my best central midfielder is Ruben Pardo and he is still very young and not superb so it was definitely needed!

Loans R Us

In my pursuit of an improved squad I decided to take a look at some players listed for loan, and I offered for a Fulham winger, and after a few weeks of waiting for funds I finally got my man.

Ashkan Dejagah -
View attachment 349416
I feel he will add some depth to the squad and will work well with my strong attacking midfield line.

There will be no more additions to the Sociedad camp and the next update will be the pre-season review!

Looks like a good start mate,
could do with enlarging the images a little other then that good updates

Pre-Season Review

Pre-Season Review!

B. Jerusalem 0-4 Real Sociedad
View attachment 349410
Goals: Alberto de la Belle (25), Xabi Prieto (48), Haris Steferovic (78), Carlos Vela (81)

A great way to start our pre-season, even if it was a weak opponent it is a good morale booster, and fortunately Martinez's injury was only minor.

Olympique Lyonnais 2-1 Real Sociedad
View attachment 349409
Goals: Xabi Prieto pen (2), Alexandre Lacazette (52), Ulrik Yttergard Jenssen (59)

A poor result for us, our first game against tough oppositions and we messed it up, not many positives apart from no injuries and we got a goal.

Real Sociedad 2-1 Tottenham
View attachment 349407
Goals: Inigo Martinez (5), Erik Lamela (17), Carlos Vela (83)

A fantastic performance and result, our toughest opponent and we beat them and played much better than them.

LEMANS FC 2-3 Real Sociedad
View attachment 349397
Goals: Iker Hernandez ( 6), Lucas Pedemas (51), Ashkan Dejagah (87), Imanol Agirretxe (90+2), Bassory Ouatarra (90+3)
Carlos Martinez sent off (41)

A good performance considering we spent 50 minutes with ten men and it was good to get three goals. Good performance.

Roeselare 0-3 Real Sociedad
View attachment 349388
Goals: Imanol Agirretxe (54), Orazio Henry o.g. (56), David Faupala (73)
Jimmy Kamghain sent off (50)

A good way to round off a good pre-season, a clean sheet and three goals. I can't fault the lads.

Top Goalscorers:
Xabi Prieto, Carlos Vela, Imanol Agirretxe - 2 goals
Alberto de la Berre, Haris Steferovic, David Faupala, Iker Hernandez, Ashkan Dejagah, Inigo Martinez - 1 goal

Best average rating:
Alberto de la Berre 7.90 (3 games, 1 goal, 1 man of the match)
Ruben Pardo 7.35 (2 games, 1 assist)
Carlos Vela 7.32 (5 games - 3 starts -, 2 goals, 4 assists, 1 man of the match)

My player of pre-season:
View attachment 349381
Carlos Vela -
With 2 goals and 4 assists he was unstoppable, he was constantly in the midst of attacks and helped us secure several victories.
View attachment 349378

Pre-Season Rating: 8/10 - Some great performances from the team, but the Lyon performance was a big let down, overall good.

Cheers! I'm gonna sound dumb but how do you enlarge them?

double click the image when you add them when your posting an update and you can select the size.

Love how quickly you're putting the updates out, definitely following!

Squad Report!

Ranked in pre-season average rating

Average Rating: 6.85

Second choice goalie; played three of the friendlies but is unlikely to challange Bravo for a place as number one goalie.

Did not feature in the pre-season friendlies but will probably be cup goalie as he has good potential and needs game time.

Looked good throughout pre-season in the 5 games he played, will definitely partner Inigo Martinez at the back this season.

Average Rating: 7.16

Will serve as a back up to Zaldua throughout the season and will likely play in cup games.

Javi Ros -
Played one game in pre-season but looked solid, likely used as backup this season.

Average Rating: 7.30

David Zurutuza -
Barely featured in pre-season and will serve as backup but has some decent stats.

Average Rating: 6.85

Esteban Granero -
Played in all 5 games - 3 as sub - but did not affect the matches much, will solve solely as backup.

Average Rating: 6.84

Mahamadou Diarra -
Played 3 times in pre-season and was average, will serve as a rotation player for the side, especially against big teams to stop the opposition playing.

Average Rating: 6.73

View attachment 349342
Markel -
Will be a rotation player this season, fairly average during pre-season.

Average Rating: 6.70

View attachment 349341

Was expecting much more from Canales this pre-season, one of the best players at the club but his starting place could be in jeopardy.

Fairly average in pre-season, will be a backup player in the squad and a cup player.

Average Rating: 6.63

I am very disappointed in his performances during pre-season, he only started two games but he still should have performed much better. Could lose his starting spot on the first game of the season.

Only featured once as a substitute but will play in cup games often and will hopefully improve over the season.

Average Rating: 6.45

Average Rating: 7.40

View attachment 349350

2 goals in 4 games in pre-season isn't too bad, will be a starter for the side but needs to beware of Hernandez and Steferovic.

Average Rating: 6.83

View attachment 349348

Decent in pre-season and could definitely challenged Agirretxe for a first team spot as he has lots of potential

Average Rating: 6.70

Scored a goal in pre-season which is always good, and will be used off of the bench at times to help him progress.

The season is with us, update of the first month coming soon.

Will we win our first game?
Can we defeat Shalke in the Champions League play off match?

Result...

View attachment 349311

VICTORY!

Goals: Antoine Griezmann (1), Carlos Vela (12), Alberto de la Belle (45+1), Inigo Martinez (90+4)

Man of the Match: Sergio Canales

View attachment 349307

So I doubted Griezmann because of his pre-season... Boy did he prove me wrong. It took him a minute to score his first goal! And so did Canales with two assists and a MotM. At least I was right in praising Vela! Great result!

August Review!

Real Sociedad 3-1 Getafe
View attachment 349205

Real Sociedad 0-3 Shalke
View attachment 349204

Well that was ******* dreadful...
It wasn't made easier by the fact that the puppy my family are looking after started biting my arm so I had to rush him downstairs and forgot to pause the game, brilliant...

Elche 0-1 Real Sociedad
View attachment 349203

A solid performance from us and we never looked like losing.

Shalke 2-1 Real Sociedad
View attachment 349202

So our Champions League dream is over, we never looked like winning, but we're in the Europa League and this is our group...

View attachment 349201

So it's not too bad, I'm fairly confident we can get out of that group, but knowing me I am probably completely wrong.

Real Sociedad 0-3 Atletico Madrid
View attachment 349200

A very poor result but they were just much stronger than us from the start, luckily Canales is only out for two weeks.

Player of the Month
View attachment 349199
Sergio Canales -
With three assists in four games he was a vital player for the team and helped us win two of our games

League Table

View attachment 349198

A poor month in Europe but decent in La Liga which is a positive.

September Review!

Levante 0-2 Real Sociedad
View attachment 349130

A good way to get back on track after our poor loss to Atletico, a great result.

SK Rapid Wien 0-0 Real Sociedad
View attachment 349126

Not a fantastic result for us but we dominated throughout the game which is positive but we couldn't put away our chances.

Real Sociedad 1-1 Malaga
View attachment 349122

It wasn't the result I was hoping for but at least we got ourselves a point. We finished the game with 10 men after Canales got himself injured for the third time already, that is worrying me.

Barcelona 5-0 Real Sociedad
View attachment 349121

I don't even know what to say, they just dominated us from start to finish, a very poor result.

Real Sociedad 0-1 Sevilla
View attachment 349120

It was a really tight game but Sevilla just snatched, games like those are ones that we need to be winning.

League Table

View attachment 349118

Fairly happy at the moment, only seven games in so there is nothing in it as of yet!

Europa League Table

View attachment 349117

Only one game in so not much to really say about this.

Not to bad a start,
just need a bit of consistancy, seems when you lose you loose big,
they dont seem to have alot of fight in them.

really nice one mate, u probably dont have tactic learned yet at full potential when u do u will perform even better i guess :)

Yeah I agree, Griezmann handed in a transfer request so he doesn't care anymore unfortunately...

Yeah! It's always tough when I have no strikers because my favourite tactic is a 4-3-3 with 3 strikers (Target man, advanced forward and a false nine) but my strikers are terrible.

October Review!

Real Sociedad 1-1 Girondins Bordeaux
View attachment 348947

A decent result against the top team in the group, just wish we could've got the winner as this was very big game.

Rayo 1-2 Real Sociedad
View attachment 348944

A great result for us and nice to see Carlos Vela beginning to find some form up front!

Valencia 2-0 Real Sociedad
View attachment 348943

A poor result in a very key game if we are looking to get into a Europa League place!

Lazio 1-1 Real Sociedad
View attachment 348941

Very dissapointed not to hold on to that lead, especially as we conceded in the last five minutes! That meant we had three draws from three games in the Europa league.

Real Sociedad 3-1 Almeria
View attachment 348939

A great result, but it went down to the wire and we suddenly turned the style on and scored two in the last 10 minutes, nice to see Vela score again and also nice to see Prieto get involved as he is a great player and he could be vital this year!

Valladolid 1-3 Real Sociedad
View attachment 348938

A great result in a match that we dominated from the start, and great to see Agirretxe finally score for us!

My best month so far, after a change of tactics after the Valencia game we seem to have drastically improved, hopefully we can keep going!

Player of the Month!
View attachment 348936
Carlos Vela -
It just had to be him, his 3 goals secured two vital wins for us that helped us find some good form, looks set to be our main striker and is beginning to find the net, looking promising!

League Table!
View attachment 348935

Very happy with 6th place, we're fighting for 4th at the moment and our good form has pushed us up, very pleased!

Europa League Table!
View attachment 348934

No so good in the Europa league, struggling for goals and it's costing us!
