Really struggling. Please help.

Hey everyone,

Bought FM2011 for the iPhone a couple of days ago and I'm really struggling.

Playing as Aston Villa. Tried nearly most different formations and tactics. Can't get anything to work for me.

I draw nearly every game and am sitting in the lower half of the table. Have barely scored any goals (though Carew and Bent have my best ratings).

What am I doing wrong? How can I improve?

Have you checked the reccomended settings for your players and put them as such during the match? I used to draw everything on my bolton save until i noticed those x.x...
 
Go as Barcelona and learn to play the game. With Barcelona you will easily win your league without needing transfers. Once you are confident enough with the game you can move onto a more difficult team.
 
I'd recommend starting with a solid but not overly flamboyant tactic like a 4-1-3-2, the DMC can help ensure that you've some solidity at the back regardless of the team you field - I normally use it with short passing, committed tackling and a neutral mentality myself ..

The player tactical roles (found under tactics - Player Tactical Roles section) can help get the best out of your team, use the recommendations found on the player positions page (where it shows which positions your player can play in) to help you choose them while you find your feet. I'd recommend keeping them fairly 'simple' initially - ie. a poacher and target man up front, that sort of thing.

Also if you're having a bad run don't forget to add some motivational speaking to your team to try and keep them confident (ie. up the motivation aspect of training and drop down one other area a notch so you don't bore them silly with long sessions).
 
yeah use 4-3-3 and set it to attacking and try and buy some attacking mids
