Manager Scott Dickson will have a battle on his hands signing enough players and preparing his squad.

Introducing...

Manager Scott Dickson, a local born ex professional footballer, has a tough job ahead of him preparing his side for their first season in Scotland's Professional League.

Given the task of spending £422,000 at the beginning of pre-season. Dickson has assembled his entire team for the task ahead.Included in the squad are 3 sets of brothers striving to make a name for themselves. The Kidds (Lewis, and Blair) are the sons of Alan Kidd, a former youth coach. Lewis - formally of Celtic FC, had early success with teh Glasgow outfit before an injury caused a setback. Sent on loan to Queen of the South, he made an instant impact with the Championship side. After his release from Celtic, Lewis re-joined QoS. Since then, he has been picked up my Wishaw manager Scott, citing previous history with the manager as his reason for joining.

Blair, the younger brother, was picked up by Celtic at a very early age - like his brother - but was yet to make his breakthrough. His reasons behind joining the Wishaw outfit were his friendship with the younger brother of Wishaw's manager (who played along side Blair prior to joining Celtic)

The Dorman brother's are another addition to the squad. Andy has had previous laying experience in the Scottish Premiership with St Mirren, where he enjoyed great success and earned his first Wales cap, sitting on the bench in a 3-0 win over Scotland. He later made his pitch appearance against Croatia. Andy joined Crystal Palace from the Buddies - but was unable to continue his success. After his release from Palace he returned to New England Revolution (from where he joined St Mirren). Dorman's contract was not renewed at the end of the current MLS season and the midfielder expressed a desire to return to Scotland. Andy was a coup for Wishaw, and was named club captain upon his arrival.

Richard is his lesser known brother, who joins Andy upon his release from SJK in Finland.

Finally the Quitongos. Sons of former Hearts star, and St Mirren player Jose, Jai and Rico join Wishaw citing the friendship between their familes, and the managers family as the reason.

Former Premier league star Morten Gamst Peersen is another star player amongst the Wishaw outfit - another surprise signing for a mere £13k

Early Doors

So pre-season is over, and the season has commenced. Firstly, we start with the disappointments. Early cup (heavy) losses to Morton, and Dumbarton saw Wishaw exit the Challenge Cup, and League Cup. The Despite taking the lead early in the Morton game, the Greenock outfit went on a rampage (and were heavily influenced by a poor referee). 2 sending offs and a disallowed goal (of which the replays confirm was incorrect) aided Morton on their road to victory.

Dumbarton just outclassed Wishaw in every respect. Again Wishaw took the lead early, but could not keep The Sons out and soon found themselves trailing 2-1 after 2 very quick goals. Injury to Lewis Vaughan, who is out for 8-10 months, leaves Wishaw without an outright striker and Kevin Smith will have to fill in there.

Pre-season went well considering the opposition and level in class difference. Wins over Blackburn Rovers and Crystal palace, as well as low scoring defeats to Hull and Sunderland, with a draw at Hull, gave some early indication of strength in the squad.

3 League wins in a row, conceding just a single goal also provides hope for the season - as bookmakers indicate I shall finish around 5th-9th in the League. Most recently, a draw to Amateur League side Queens Park saw the first 4 games end on 10 points.

Captain Andy Dorman has shown his experience in the opening fixtures of the season, scoring 3 goals. Lewis Kidd also hints at early promise with a brace against Elgin City.

For those who want to know what skin I am using, it is Andromeda Blue, which I downloaded of the Steam Workshop.

Setting the Pace

After the opening 8 games of the season, Wishaw United find themselves firmly in first position. 7 points ahead of 2nd place Annan. 8 goals higher, and still undefeated.

Most recently was a 5-0 demolition of Montrose, where the keeper decided to catch the ball, then immediately throw it into his own net
Jai Quitongo with a brace, before captain Dorman made it 3-0. Midfielder Wilkie made it 4-0 before The Gable Endies keeper threw a low cross from L. Kidd into his own goal
