Louis van Gaal fired!
The shocking news that Louis van Gaal has been sacked from his job as Bayern Munich manager has spread all around the newspaper headlines in Germany. The Dutch football guru was close to a treble last season but the board obviously didn't think that was enough for the 59-year old to keep his job. Speculations about the new man-in-charge at Allianz Arena began circulating in the media immediately and Uli Hoenes decided to call up a press-conference the same day and calm the situation down.
Hoeness: Van Gaal didn't fit, we need someone who can blend in the squad!
Van Gaal's attitude towards the players was unacceptable. He wanted to play god with them, tried to take control over their lives. The Bayern Munich manager must be someone who will be respected by the players and someone to whom they can talk about everything. He must be their boss and their friend. As soon as we, the board, decided to terminate Louis' contract, I knew exactly who is the person we were looking for. So without further ado, with my utmost pleasure, I present you the living legend - Oliver Kahn.
Kahn:First of all, I would like to thank you all for coming out here, this is proof of how important Bayern Munich is for the German nation and that can only make me and all the fans extremely happy. I'd be willing to answer all of your question but please keep it short, as we need to get things going immediately to be ready for the new season.
Bild: Mr. Kahn, you have been a player and a captain of Bayern Munich for many years and you have practically won everything there is to win as a player. Do you believe you have got what it takes to do it as a manager as well?
Kahn:I certainly hope I do. I believe the innovations that I will implement and the different approach will be able to take the team to the next level. I know what the missing puzzle piece is.
Deutsche-Welle: Speaking of missing puzzle pieces, are you going to make a lot of changes? Will we see you as an active participant in the transfer market? If so, what kind of players are you looking to sign? Who will be leaving?
Kahn:Changes will be kept to the needed minimum. I will definitely be changing things around here. Our squad is amongst the oldest in the Bundessliga and that is something I will be looking to change. I can also assure you that...
Hoeness: It is time to leave, Oliver. The media will have more time to talk to you later, it is time to work now.
