Executive chairman Peter Trembling and Sven-Goran Eriksson are trying to secure a buyout of Notts County, Sky Sports News understands.

It is understood that the Magpies' owners Munto Finance - a subsidiary of Qadbak investments -are looking to sell as soon as possible.

Munto took control of the club amid a blaze of publicity over the summer.

They shocked the footballing world by bringing in former England coach Eriksson as their director of football, but things have not gone smoothly.

Their marquee signing of Sol Campbell lasted just one appearance and he left just a matter of weeks into a five-year deal.

Then, after a poorer than expected start to the season, manager Ian McParland was replaced by Hans Backe.

Now with Munto looking to sell less than six months after taking control of the club, Sky Sports News sources have learned that Eriksson is involved in a takeover bid led by Trembling.

It is believed there is other interest, but Trembling and Eriksson are looking to seal a management buyout.

I imagine this is due to the financial crisis in Dubai that Munto Finance have decided to sell, at least County won't have a huge budget after this even though Sven is worth a lot of cash, he isn't up there in football ownership standards

Yea i guess that is why they have decided to sell. Shame really was a nice thing they had going.
