I'm playing as Man United and am currently in my sixth season. I have tasted trophies in all my seasons so far but have noticed some issues:

1. I cannot win the PL and a cup competition in one season. I either win the PL or win the FA cup/CL. My squad has depth and I keep them fit. But for some reason it's like a completely different team is in the respective competitions. I can beat Chelsea 5-0 and lose to Monaco at home.
2. My team always has a bad patch in a season. Either in the middle or at the end.

I was wondering if anyone else suffers these issues and what I may be able to do to solve them.

I appreciate not much info has been given but if you need details I can post up. Thanks for any advice!

I usually rotate my players often, I tend to make sure I have alteast 1-2 more key players in my team than I need.
Every 2 games i'll switch out whichever striker did the least impressive, same with midfield and defence.
Then in another 2 games I switch the one I didn't last time. The only time I do otherwise is in big games where I field my strongest team.

Tends to keep the team in form for pretty much all the season, players develop well and noone tends to burn themselves out.

As for not being able to win both the PL and a Cup I have no idea, CL is a pain at times to win although if you make sure your players are fit and motivated it shouldn't be too hard.

Yeah I rotate a lot. Big problem I have though is with my strikers. If I don't play them consistently they seem to stop scoring as often as if I played them every match I could until they are too tired (anything below 93-95%).

I have a feeling it may be team talks or training. Was thinking it could be an idea to reduce training workload towards the end of a season gradually? Usually it is between medium and high, usually the lower end of high. But would it be counter-productive to reduce it? I may give it a test at the end of this seasons

What tactics do you use for the PL/CL? Do you switch between them depending on the competition?

The tactic is similar in each case. The formation is the same - 4-2-3-1. If anything I sometimes go more defensive away from home (4-1-2-2-1). I am fairly certain it isn't the tactic because in the season I won the CL i used the same tactic as the ones where i flop out. In the same way, the season where i did the most poorly in the PL the tactic didn't change much either :S. I have a stronger and more in depth squad this season with many world class players so will see how it goes.

It's also important to note that last season, I made the CL q/f and the FA Cup q/f, and up until February I had won all but one of my PL games (which I drew), and only won 1 CL game and just qualified out of my group in p2. In the FA cup i scraped through most of the rounds, though that was partially to do with the fact that I used a weaker team so I'm not particularly worried about that one.
